I thought it might be interesting if people whose scores went up wrote about how they did it. I'll start:
I live in a small town in eastern North Carolina. Students here think anything above a 1500 is great. When I scored an 1820 people thought I was a genius. I did to for awhile. Then I discovered CC on the internet. It opened up a whole new world. I decided I could do better. My mom works at two jobs but she hired a tutor to help me. Mr. B's motto was "Up Is Good :)" I discovered Direct Hits on CC and it really did deliver the hits. My score went up 180 points to a 2000. I am going to keep working and try for a 2100 in October. But for now I know I made my mom proud.

Congratulations! I don’t have a success story as I just took it for my first time but I scored a 1960 and am hoping to do better next time.

Got a 2160 the first time… didn’t even study and got a 2260 the second time. You definitely can make 2100… good job!

On my first practice test i scored a 1780 and then after 3 months of studying and 2 more practice tests(diagnostic tests are at a learning center) it has gone up to a 2100. It was my first time “actually” taking the SAT and I am happy however, it is infectious because now i think i stil might take it again and see how much better i can do.
good luck and study hard!! It will be worth it in the end!

Congratulation Iron-lady and zfox001. You both did great. Up really is good. Great advice zfox001 - Bring on the October SAT!

Congrats ironlady.

So I have had a long journey from my first PSAT to my last sat all in all (with super score) I went from a 169 to a 2270. It was slow and steady and I would recommend using QAS. It helped me practice, and really boosted my confidence.

I went from a 1390 in 8th grade to a 1730 freshman year. i am pretty pleased with the upward trend there. i didn’t study for the sat, but it was because i completed some high school classes.

Congrats Ironlady. You are an inspiration. I am going to work hard for the October test.

After about 3 weeks of studying my score went up 240 ponts from my previous test. Now I need to break 1950. Then I will be happy.

you’re the man. I guess sometimes we do realize how big the world is and how small our achievements are. But that’s how we mature through life! Great stuff!

Best luck.

When I took my first SAT without any studying, I got a 1900. I wasn’t really satisfied.

The parents put me into a class with TPR and I started getting my act together. I realized it was an important test for my future and college acceptance. I did all the homework, tried as hard as I could to learn vocabulary, and most importantly, I read more and wrote more. I basically threw myself into a grammar freak state of mind. If I heard myself saying “I wish I was…”, I’d say, “NO! It’s I wish I WERE! SUBJUNCTIVE MOOD!”. Took a few practice tests. I went from 1900 on my SAT to a 1940 on a practice. Then 1930 on another. Then 1920 on another. I thought I was done for. On my last test I got a 2030. Pretty satisfied.

Come SAT time in June, I tried my hardest and got good results.

Went from a 1900 to a 2180. +110 in CR, +90 in Math, and +80 in Writing.

Anyone can improve their score as long as they put the work and their mind into it. Anything is possible! ANYTHING’S POSSSSIBBLEEE!
