Up to how many tests would super score work?

I’ve taken 3 tests so far with my most recent one being the best, with a 790 math score and a 660 English.
I’m planning on taking it again to increase the English score and then super scoring but my guidance counselor says that some colleges don’t allow you to super score once you take the test more than 3 times. She then said that they would average the 4 test scores if I were to go ahead and take another one.

I cannot find any information stating that a college would average my scores or even place a limit on super scoring.
Please help, thank you!

At some point they roll their eyes even if they superscore. If you can’t do it in 3, quit there.

so even if i can improve my total score by 50 points-ish to a 1500 with superscore i shouldnt do it because of the negative effects?

Is your GC named Sister Mary Aloysius, who also said that your cell phone usage during school hours would go on your permanent record? =)) Because this sounds like the same urban legend.

Now the bigger issue as @intparent alludes to is that it is the very rare student who will get a substantially different score the 4th time around. Perhaps you’re the exception. But no, it won’t hurt you unless the college requires you to send all tests. In that case, the AO may well roll their eyes and wonder if you have anything more to offer than test prep.

But if you can get it over 700, I would go for it. Or try ACT.
