Upcoming Elon visit

D and I are making our second trip to Elon and she will sitting in on a class, meeting with a professor and having lunch with a student on Monday. We arrive on Sunday and was wondering if there was any restaurant on campus that we should eat that may give her a feel for the students. I know the town is basically the campus but is the best place to eat on a Sunday night in Elon, either on or off campus? Thanks

When I visited over a Sunday I saw that evening dining appears to be all over the map. Greek chapter meetings and/or study group meetings mean catching something quick at Fountain Market or Boars Head Deli for students on their way to being somewhere. If it’s a sit down dinner you are looking for, you might want to try the 1889 Grill Room on campus. Off campus spots in Burlington on Huffman Mill like Sal’s (Italian) get some student traffic on the weekends. Boys in particular seem to like the mongolian grill, Crazy Fire, but personally I think it is a little raunchy. Note that a lot of students have access to kitchen facilities in their suites or apartments and appear to like to cook for themselves or with friends on Sunday nights.

I like to go to the Sidetrack Grill (just down the street) with my S and Wife whenever we just want to sit and say hello over good food in a comfortable atmosphere. On Campus the Colonnades has a nice dining room but be sure to check whats open (and not) on Sunday night. Hope you and your D have a nice time. My S loves Elon and after all was said and done I think he made a great choice. You can PM if you have questions.

I would eat at the school to get a better idea. I have only eaten off campus with other students at a restaurant once for a birthday fling. It’s too expensive and I preferred the campus food to what I was served in the chain.
