Wait a minute.
It's not USC who decides whether you have housing or not. It you or your parents. When you applied, did you mark off a box saying you didn't want housing? Did you give them the impression somehow that you were going to commute or stay off campus?

All you need to do is call them, call Admissions or FinAid office (not housing), and get this cleared up. It might be a simple misunderstanding.

Read my post #14 for the housing link. Columbia is right, You should be able to register and pay the $30.

No that is not true. My daughter's friend signed up for housing a while ago and she still has not enroll yet. Her mom is going through the paperwork. I'm going look for the link.

I remember on my financial report I put off-campus thinking my family would move to CA. (my dad messes things up for me usually) im guessing i could call them up but again i read that financial packets change if i change housing plans (and right now i hve a good financial packet). what should i do right now/

Ok that's it. I think you need to call and talk to them. Finaid will change but USC is very generous. But at same time off campus housing will cost same or more than on campus. It will even out.

SeaHwang; 1 213 740 1111 (Finaid) I can't find an 800 number.
Call them, there's no reason this can't be figured out. They are easy to talk to and helpful. Your family ended up not moving to CA, explain that, and really a dorm room on campus will cost less than off campus (I think), your dad will understand.
Phones might be busy so stay on hold till you get through.

The financial aid wouldn't change even if it says "Non University Housing". It only changes if you put living with parents. You will need to change it, but it isn't a big deal.

As for housing, apply now since the deadline is May 1. You just need to register and apply.

well i called them previously and they stated dorm or no-dorm, the FA is final since USC uses a different system than just FAFSA. that said, i think they will not change the packet most likely, which im glad.

that said, should i just go ahead and throw requests to people who have 90/80 with my matching test? or specifically find some1 off facebook. im Alex Hwang (Collins Hill 08) on facebook btw. thanks

SeaHwang, I still recommend that you call them today to make sure you can get a dorm room. Also register and pay the $30 on the housing site so you're in the system.
Facebook seems to be the preferred method for finding roommates, since the profiles are more detailed, and you can communicate more directly. But try both.
If you don't find a roommate, don't worry since USC will match you up with someone who has a similar housing profile.

Oh I will definitely call them to fix it since I dont want to mess up anything. I paid the 30 last night (REALLY regretted waiting since I could when I was only ADMITTED).
