Should I update colleges that I am a National Merit Finalist and that I have a new major extracurricular (newspaper)? I mean, I have 7 classes now, which isn't amazing or anything but kind of a lot for a second semester senior. That's pretty much the only new news. Is it worth it to email them? Like, will they be annoyed? Thanks.

I think my guidance counselor mentioned that I became a NMF when the school sent in the midyear report, but I don’t think NMF it’s really that important, since almost everyone ends up advancing to the finalist status anyway…

I agree with Calico, since my counselor also said that most colleges will assume Finalist status. And taking up newspaper isn’t a big deal unless you’re editor in chief or something like that.
