Just recieved my letter via Fedex today, South Africa

Congrats everyone - Glad to see some excited students posting on the forum!

MConklin! Im sorry to bother you, but i was cleaning out my spam folder and noticed a URochester ‘family recommendation form’ email for the first time! Will the fact i didnt send in a family recommendation hurt my chances?

Nope… the percentage of students that submit a family rec is small. Though helpful at times, you will be just fine without it!

@MConklin

Should we expect our decisions to come in within the next few days? Were they all sent out today? So excited to find out!

@ MConklin

Are you reppin for Eastman as well? If so, does the 22nd mailing apply?

@MConklin (and anyone willing to give advice)

About 2 months ago, I had gone on myroc account to see if my full application had been sent in. After seeing that my transcript was marked missing, I quickly emailed my college counselor as I found it odd since my mid-year report had been accounted for. She told me that she had spoken to the Rochester and assured me that they did indeed have my transcript and that the account just didn’t reflect the changes yet. Fast forward until last week: After getting stressed about colleges, I decided to go on my account to see whether everything was OK. My transcript was still missing. I called the school and they found it behind my mid year report in a section for miscellaneous items. Will this error, which seems to be that of my school as I was told the transcript was stapled in an odd spot, have an impact on whether I am admitted? It struck me that since I am being looked at so late in the game, that there may not be many open spots.

Hey… Good questions…

duffer188… Most of the remaining letters will be sent out within the next two days.

hardbop… I do not represent The Eastman School of Music’s Admission Office, and am unsure as to the timing of their mailing.

mmusicallover… I understand your concerns but can assure you that you are not alone - I have spoken with a few students recently about locating missing documents. While it doesn’t happen to too many students, it is something that we anticipate happening for a handful every year. Unfortunately, it may mean that a letter arrives to you a few days later than others, but your application will still be given full consideration for admission.

ACCEPTED! So excited!:)

Thanks MConklin for your patience throughout our hysteria.

duffer188, where you live? I live in LA, and got no mail.

scott—duffer is from Buffalo, NY. It’s right under his name.

Thank you, I live in LA, and when would I get the mail if they mailed it in 22nd?

First class mail takes about 3 days.

nothing for me… east coast

It’s okay scott, I’m in the LA area with nothing too, ahaha.

Still waiting in Rochester…

accepted
i got an email! no packet yet since im international

More letters going out today as well.

On a side note… Of the four years that I have been here, the decision-making process this year has been the most difficult by a significant margin. The number of applications that we received this year is approximately 13,650, which is about a 13% increase from last year and the largest number of applications we have had on record, which means we have had to make some very tough decisions. 13% may not sound like much, but in the admissions world that is a huge number. We may end up admitting fewer than 35% of our applicants by the time all is said and done.

That being said, for whatever it is worth, remember that the letter that you receive is not indicative of your value as a person or even our belief in your potential to be a successful college student. The unfortunate truth is that we have only so much room, and many very qualified candidates will not be given the opportunity to attend.

Please continue to feel free to ask questions of me… best of luck!

Are any of the letters going out today acceptances? My D’s tracking only moved to 4 last week. Good Luck to all this weekend!

Yup… certainly still some admits, though the majority of the remaining letters will be waitlists and denies.
