I am wondering wether or not it's a good idea to send a third update to all my colleges. I sent one 5 weeks ago, and then another 2 weeks ago. The first one said basically that I was an STS Semifinalist, and also included some small awards. The second said that I was accepted to a prestigious level of this conference for research, and also included that I won a debate tournament.

Now, I've been invited to write a chapter in an upper-undergraduate textbook in bioinformatics. Should I fax a letter notifying them of this? It's really late, and I don't want to drown them in paper, but this may help, especially at my EA school (Harvard), from where I was deferred...

NO. do you honestly think that one piece of information is going to make or break it for you? it sounds like you already have enough impressive stuff. leave them alone

That's kind of what I reasoned, but the thing with your post is that since no one is a shoo-in at Harvard, and indeed, I was "rejected," there is no such thing as "enough impressive stuff." Co-authoring a book is a pretty big deal and I'm lucky to have the specific specialty needed for the book.
