<p>Ben, please don't hate yourself for this.
Mistakes happen. Wallowing in the hatred that people send you or the embarrassment that you feel doesn't help anyone. </p>
<p>You guys did a huge job in getting through those three thousand applications as quickly as you did. Anyone that attacks you for this small of a mistake is a selfish and narrow-minded person, who, in my opinion, wouldn't deserve to be a part of the amazing community that is MIT.</p>
<p>I haven't gotten anything yet, but I'll take what I get, with no complaints. At this point it's more than likely an envelope, but I'll deal with that when I come to it. </p>
<p>MIT is my dream school, but obsessing over being deferred now is silly when I know I still have a shot at regular decision.</p>
<p>Now, snap out of this self-hating funk you guys seem to be in. I don't want depressed admissions officers re-reading my application (if I get deferred) or anyone else's application in a month!</p>
