Well living in Wisconsin will probably help your son get into one of these school. They like kids from the under-represented states have a better chance. Since not lots of people apply from there.

Grammar!:)

We got our official envelope from Mercersburg today, along with an individual letter to my daughter and a tshirt in a small mailing package-all from M'burg. I am forbidden to open any of it. Also, we got a fat envelope from Western Reserve, so I am guessing that is a yes. My daughter only applied to schools which offered merit scholarships. Still waiting to hear from Westminster and Suffield Academy.

Mind if I ask in what part of the country you live?

I haven't gotten any of my acceptance packages or waitlist/rejection mail and I livev in Georgia. So I wouldn't worry. But I haven't gotten my mail today..so idk.

Scotland, we're in upstate NY.

Called the house, the Mrs. on the phone (flash button) and hasn't gone out to get the mail! Geez Louise.

Got her to get the mail. He's in at SG. Received acceptance Mar 9th via regular mail fm SAS, Del.. Thats it, 2 for 2. Decision time.

Congrats to your son, ops! And if you want more info on St Andrew's, you know where to find me.

ops- post #8 really made me laugh

Congrats!

We live in New England and my son is still waiting to hear from a school in New England. Clearly he was not accepted, but why don't they send acceptance/rejection/waitlist notifications out on the same day? If they are unable to post the status online they should at least have the decisions out in a timely manner. I know, I sound bitter! LOL! :)

dreamer6 - I don't blame you for feeling that way. Andover and Deerfield, among others, have frustrated many folks over the past few years in which I've been following the admissions game. I feel that schools such as SPS or NMH that use online admissions save money, are more environmentally friendly, and most importantly, minimize the anguish by not making teens wait for days.

WORD..Creative 1

Creative1~all valid points! Thank you!

I agree w/ the environmentally friendly part of creative1's argument, but to my knowledge most schools w/ online decisions do not include financial aid information. For those schools who still use snailmail, the FA info usually comes with the acceptance letters.

So for schools with online decisions, their FA applicants might still be anguishing and waiting for days for the big packet to arrive w/ the details of their scholarship info.

Well, we heard officially (ie, big packet) from Mercersburg. They also included a teeshirt and a separate letter to my daughter telling her she did not get the merit scholarship. We're in a bind because while we have decent assets (house, some savings), my husband's salary as a stock broker has done a free fall. The offer of 13K, while generous, makes it impossible for her to attend. Also heard from Western Reserve. Another yes for aid (13,300K) but no for the scholarship. She is disappointed. Still waiting to hear from the other two.

Good point, Gemma V, but worrying about the FA piece is no where near the anguish you experience simply not knowing where you stand. I still feel it is unnecessary to make applicants wait.

I had the same thought. All these kids saying they heard from XX school and that is where they were heading. But lots were fa kids, so how did they know it would work out? We heard online, but knew to temper the good news with the fact that we might not be able to afford it.

SPS will fax the FA decision to you and Choate emails the FA decison to you after you have been notified of the decision. I agree that getting the admissions decision is only the begining of the process, but we told our d that with out FA it was not possible. We had an even bigger celebration with we got the FA information. And making kids wait is bad for the schools, my d is still waiting on two packages, but she is already starting to see herself at another school.
