Update on housing

Idk I’ve heard great things about Hercules and the Towers as well, so I will decide soon and hopefully I’ll get what I want since I plan on applying as soon as the app comes out

I’m staying at Towers for sure

^^^ I’m leaning towards towers but am not sure

Im not going to be there for summer, so Towers is out of the question. It also doesn’t seem social at all. I would definetely consider it as an upper classmen, but for right now, HELL NO. It also seems very far away from everywhere at UCF except the stadiums

@Write haha yeah it rele is small world! :stuck_out_tongue: But yeah thats true, florida residents would know more about the area too.

Does anybody know anything about the Apollo dorms? Nobody has seems to have mentioned them. Do they like suck or something?

I heard the Apollo dorms aren’t very good but I think it’s not very popular because Apollo dorms have rooms where 2 people have to share the same room. I have several friends who go to UCF and they say that apollo is okay.

I heard it’s okay, but not many people’s first choice. I’m for Libra:) Definitely not towers my first year, unless you’re walking in knowing many, many people. It lacks social interaction for freshmen. Plus, I want the real college experience-Living in an actuals dorm room, with a roommate, is something I’ll experience.

Lpollo is basically the exact same as the one big room Libra, just a tad smaller bathroom. Cheaper too.

Anyone else considering lake claire?

I swear I’m going to know so many people at UCF cause I have old friends there and many of my friends and classmates are going to UCF as well. Now I just can’t stand sharing space with someone else, so I’m definitely going to try to get a single dorm.

I haven’t heard of lake Claire. Care to give me some insight?

You guys can see info, look at floor plans, prices, and video tours of the dorms here: [Housing and Residence Life | Choices](Choices • Housing and Residence Life • UCF)

I think it’s intredasting what someone said about better quality people in Hercules. I too think that there will be a lot of self selection based on what dorm someone chooses. When you add price into the equation then we might be looking at some real stratification here.

Problem has a point. Lead and Excel and some other academic programs have housing blocks in hercules/nike which may make it more “studious”

-@kyle n lalily, lake claire is basically cheaper/more social towers. you have a common area and four individual bedrooms but two bathrooms.

I see it like this. Towers has honors and a hugeee price tag. The kids you’re gonna find there are well off and probably very involved. If they’re not in some club then they’re in their big ass room studying for an honors class. Probably not tons of free time to socialize outside of their clubs/volunteering/research/whatever else smart people do.

I could see Apollo becoming bad really quickly. Apollo isn’t really advertised at any of the open houses and if I didn’t have internet access I wouldn’t even be aware of its existence. It also has the cheapest price tag. No advertising means no one requests it. That, coupled with its cheap price tag, means you’re gonna get the kids that applied for housing last second (for any number of reasons, most bad) and/or couldn’t afford to live anywhere else. Call me elitist but that’s not the group of kids I want to live with.

Well, the whole ‘out of state program’ Libra has is very appealing to me. I’m also fairly sure that, for summer, those of us attending will be put into Nike/Hercules. It’s been that way for many years now. The way I see it, I can experience two different dorms. If Nike/Hercules had such a nice social environment, I would pick it, hands down. However, I’m willing to sacrifice a beautiful court yard, as well as walls that aren’t cider block, for the ultimate social experience. So when it comes down to it, I really don’t feel like Libra and Nike is that different, in reality. Nike has a pretty court yard, Libra has great social interaction. I don’t think it’s a matter of class, when it comes down to it. I mean, think of it this way. Libra is where almost all out of state students stay, because of the interaction. Coming from out of state, they must be able to afford it, in some light. So I don’t think it’s necessarily fair to say you’ll meet classier people in Nike.

The way I see it is that since Nike/Hercules are aesthetically nicer, you’re less likely to find slobs there. I did see people smoking weed in the courtyard, but you’ll find that anywhere. What I dont want, for a roomate, is a slob. I can live with a partier, as long as he doesnt take the party to the dorm EVERY night

Dolphinfreak I totally agree with your statement.

Well Write, the social situation at Libra, in my opinion, is equal to that of Herc/Nike and Apollo. It’s almost the same setup and size. Plus in reality making friends is really more of a group activity and nightlife thing. I mean you know what they say about your dorm in college

That’s very true. I second the slob thing, too. I get along with anyone, but I feel as though I’m going to have a lot of problems if my roommate comes stumbling in in the morning hours, ever night. I mean, I understand people like to have fun. I’ll want to hit the club scene, soley for the dancing…but there’s a thin line of respect. We’ll see what happens, hopefully I’m paired up with a girl who isn’t well…trashy, lol.

From the people I’ve talked to, most of the big parties happen either off campus or in Tower II (where they put all the athletes). I don’t think you’ll have to worry about it toooo much in either.
