Hi, everyone. Recently, my friend and I completed a fundraiser for a local charity (basically, we recorded a CD of music and sold it at our church parish). We raised $1,700+ for the charity and plan to record a Christmas CD next year. Should I update Yale about the success of this fundraiser, and if I should, how do I go about doing so? I am unsure whether it is too late to send in an update or if this even merits an update. Thank you for your input!
Also, there is a newspaper article I could include that explains our fundraiser.
At this late date in the process, other student’s are updating Admissions on their huge academic achievements, such as being named an Intel Finalist, Google Science Award Winner, National Scholastic Writing Contest Winner etc.
Your update is an EC update, and while impressive in your local community, it will probably be overshadowed by other students more impressive updates. IMHO, I wouldn’t send in an update, as your update is unlikely to kick you over the fence if Admissions is debating the merits of your file.
At this late point almost any update will not tip the scales one way or another. I’m not even sure I agree with @gibby, but I guess it wouldn’t hurt if it was a national achievement. At the local level, I don’t think it will make a difference.
@gibby @Tperry1982 Thank you very much!
Honestly, I would encourage you to send one. (Hey, it can’t hurt!) I doubt committees have started (or that they’ve reviewed very many apps), so you might still have some influence. You can either email it to your admissions officer or mail or fax it to the admissions office (addresses/email addresses at http://admissions.yale.edu/contact-us )
@Bulldog2017 Thanks so much!
Committees have definitely started working and reading apps. Again, if it makes them feel better (and that they have done all they can in the application process) they should send it in. It can’t hurt I suppose.
