I sent them two short updates even though I did not apply EA and was not sent an optional update form. Will they read it?

How did you send them updates?

snail mail

There are optional update forms?

only for students who applied EA and were defered.

My D. did the same, although she faxed in her RD update instead of snail mailing it. She got the early notification on RD, and she has gotten a call from a prof who mentioned something that was only in her update, so I gather they do read them, at least by fax. Good luck to you.

okay, thanks. She must have been a truly exceptional applicant

I'm surprised. Stanford makes a big deal about not sending in supplementary materials on the application.

Good point. It might matter whether what you send them is just more of the same (extra recommendations, for example) or a significant change.

When I called their office they didn't seem to hesitant about sending additional materials. I too was a little hesitant since in their application they are so adamant about not including more than what they want.

BTW, thanks for the kind words about D., Argrophobic. I read a lot here, even though I only post a little, and from what I've seen, I am sure you would be an asset to any school (but I hope it's Stanford, grin).
