Essays: I wrote my Common App about my experience leaving my home country in West Africa due to the Ebola crisis at 13. Very reflective. I’ve been told it’s really good but Idrk

I applied to Harvard Early so it would be nice to know if anyone thinks my stats are good enough.
I wrote the supplement about an experience in 6th grade where we had to do current events. Basic premise was how i was introduced to diversity at a young age and how I’ve strived to pursue diversity currently. Wrote it at the last minute but i’m very happy with how it turned out.

I’m also applying to Stanford, Princeton, Yale, MIT, Rice, and the like.

Thanks!

I don’t believe in doing chances for students, but I can tell you what I have seen through my wife (high school teacher at high performing HS) and at my kids own HS. My kids HS had African American students accepted/now enrolled at Stanford, Harvard, and Princeton in my daughter’s class and have met and talked to other African American students accepted into top 20’s schools and your stats are comparable, along with having a better EC profile and compelling life story than most of them. The most recent Harvard enrolled student applied and got in RD with similar test scores (besides higher subject tests) and got into 9 other top 20’s as well with no rejections. Some of the students with similar stats had some rejections, but all were accepted into fantastic schools. Hopefully, you have a few safety/match schools to go along with your list of top 20’s and good luck.

@ChangeTheGame ok that’s good to hear and yeah my safeties are Rutgers and Kean University and my match schools are U of Maryland, Stevens Institute of Technology, and University of Rochester.

bump?

I think you have a very competitive application, barring assessing harder to determine intangibles. By competitive I mean in-line with a candidate who gains admissions, based on the info provided. As we all know, there are folks that will fall on either side of the line who fit that description, though.

Did the interview go well from what you could tell?

@hgrad2010 I think it was good from what I could tell. It ended up lasting almost 2 hours which is a good sign right? Also thank you for your comment.

Yeah that’s likely a good sign. You might be surprised by how much effort an interviewer is asked to put into their review of the applicant, so having a ton of detail to go off is very useful. Harvard admissions officers will actually contact the interviewer for elaboration if they didn’t find the report clear enough!

@hgrad2010 I’m glad they do that it makes me feel that they’re actually trying to get to know the applicant. Do you know how much the interview is weighted in the admissions process?

MOSTEC. Bruh, you can basically get into MIT
