Looks very good for acceptance into EE. Good luck on the NROTC scholarship.

WOW!!

So my kid has me send his ACT to NC State and he fills in his application (not submitted yet). My DS gets an email telling him he qualifies for the Park Scholarship. Very impressive scholarship. He liked what he saw and filled out the requirements.

If the NROTC does not come through, the Park scholarship will be as impressive.

Thank you NC State!! The offer alone is nice to recieve.

A friend of my S2 was the Valedictorian of their high school class, never made a B from 1st-12th grade. He was also an Eagle Scout and member of the high school golf team.
He’s a lifelong NC resident whose parents are both NCSU alums.

He got an AFROTC scholarship to NC State. He majored in Aerospace Engineering. Made the one and only B of his life his senior year at NCSU in some brainkiller aero. class. He was the Valedictorian of the NSCU class of 2013(entire university, not just his major) and the #1 AFROTC cadet in the nation last year. He landed a spot in the competitive Euro/NATO flight school program for his first post grad. stop.

He was turned down for the Park Scholarship, didn’t even make it into the Finalist round.

Best of luck to your S, 3units. The competition is fierce. It really is an honor to be invited to apply. Even if he doesn’t get it, be assured that he was in good company in the app. process. Only top notch kids are invited to apply. Congrats to your S.

Thank you…

Yes the invite alone was very nice for him to get. He has all the essays completed and reviewed them with his English teacher. I don’t see how he could be awarded the scholarship but at best it made him feel good.

I don’t know about the park scholarship, but there is no way he wouldn’t get into NC state with those stats.

Getting into the school will be nice but I think the Parks Scholarship is a reach. I think his SAT scores would need to be much higher. I was just talking to a parent of a kid that is friends with mine. They are about equal in GPA and real close in class standing. His DS got a 2150 on the SAT and is applying to UNC. Now that’s a tough acceptance to get when your coming from OOS. I told his to look at NCSU but he never heard of it. Could not figure that one out!

Too funny, my 13 year old daughter was reading some teen magazine tonight and got all spun up. She told my son to drop all his school and to only attend NCSU because that kid Scottie Mccreery was there. Crazy girls!
