are you kidding--you're in.

The only question is fit. Will you be happy there? Visit during the school year if you doubts or questions.

slam dunk in the absence of closet skeletons or committing a felony between now and Labor Day, '08.

Thanks for the replies! Do you guys think I could get a significant amount of money in scholarships and grants, if any? My biggest concern is getting accepted but not getting enough money (which is what happened to my sister a few years ago). I didn't apply for any of the big scholarships like the Hollingsworth. However, I'm hoping maybe I can get offered at least half-tuition? Maybe that's just hopeful wishing lol.

Apply for the Hollingsworth, the Lay and the Duke. It is not too late. If you are interested in Math apply for the Wiley. There are additional scholarships available too. Apply!! If you don't ask, you won't get. I think you have a good chance of getting money. Furman also takes the state lottery scholarship money.

Furman also gives out some big scholarships "just because." I suspect your URM status would be most helpful in terms of scholarship chances. It is not only URMs that get the "just because" scholarships, of course ... I would guess they are for students the school thinks would add something special to the campus. You will have to wait until April to find out for sure, but it may be worth the wait!

You are a likely admit to Furman without the URM status as male applicants who are strong across the board like you are sought after in LACs that sometimes get more female applicants and like to achieve balance in gender. You are not only URM, you are well-qualified and college ready because you have taken a challenging high school curriculum. Think hard about your best fit in colleges, and keep an open mind and heart till April.
If you like the things Furman is particularly good at delivering, quickly send in an application for the Hollingsworth and other scholarships and don't be shy...step up. Think about where you would contribute to Furman as a member of the community. The bigger scholarships also have interview components. You have probably underestimated your chances. I am a Furman grad and have spent several weekends on a project at Furman recently. If you care to PM me with any questions, feel free! There are also current parents on this page. Congrats on your strong high school record. Next year will be one of the best years of your life when you step onto a college campus that has a great deal to offer you.
