Thank you if you have any questions just ask!

Seems like a very solid list. I would add a couple more safeties and matches. Have you considered Ramapo College and Rowan University? Both are NJ state schools. I would also consider applying to Loyola University- Maryland and Quinnipiac University.

Seems like a good list, given that you acknowledge some of these schools are above your budget. I would add another safety or two you would be happy with.

Add Rowan (which has produced many NJ journalists), Richard Stockton (The Press of Atlantic City has a grant offer to Stockton journalism students), Ramapo, to your list. For your selected course of study, you’ll want to go for the best value college (Tuition + Housing - Financial Aid) that fits your learning style. “The Grapes of Wrath” reads the same no matter where you go. Overspending will really limit your post-grad options, whether it’s grad school or “real world”.

Definitely visit each of your finalists, more than once if you can. First visit will be the tour, which is a sales pitch. Next visit, try to actually sit quietly in a class or five (I’ve found that some professors actually grant permission if you ask, but forgive those who don’t - might be a security policy). Use it as a test drive. Check out the reviews on Rate My Professors, but use a grain of salt. Nothing is worse in that major than a milquetoast reading/writing professor who doesn’t enthuse you. Some can be critical and harsh, but still enthuse you. You’ll remember the tough ones most fondly. Decide for yourself firsthand whether you are a small class person or a lecture hall person.

At which school do you see yourself succeeding, getting involved, and meeting “co-conspirators” (not so much “friends” but those who share your passion who you can work with).

Good luck!

Run the NPC on every college on your current list.
