Updated List of College Board Study Guides - Blue Book, QAS, and others

Questions about the Blue Book, often called BB, abound in this forum. This thread will try to answer the basic questions about the various versions that have been released.

Since posters seem to have adopted the label BB2 for the Second Edition, let's start with the current BB2:

This older post covers the older versions of the guides published by the College Board. The various editions contain official tests from 1994 to 2002.

Let’s update the lists of available resources published by The College Board.

Please add the most recent information in the forms of links or direct posts.

You can currently get three PDFs of real SATs from the College Board web site:

2008-09 Official Practice Test (aka October 2005 SAT)/url

2009-10 Official SAT Practice Test (aka Jan. 2006 SAT)/url

The 05-06 and 06-07 practice tests were the same as 07-08 and 08-09, respectively.

Online Course: https://satonlinecourse.collegeboard.com/SR/login/splashSchoolLogin.jsp</a></p>

QAS in BB2: October 2006, January 2007, and May 2007

The last 4 tests in the Online Course (the Pretest, Tests #7-9) are recycled QAS. Dates?

Actually, I think it’s the first 3 tests on the Online Course that are recycled.

1=May 2006
2=May 2007 Sunday
3=October 2007

^No.

7= May 2006

8= May 2007 (Sunday)

9= October 2007

I’ll check the Pretest later.

Ok, the Online Course Pretest seems to be the January 07 QAS.

According to [thread=956804]this thread[/thread], the pre-test is the same as the 2009-2010 official practice test. That may have changed by now, however.

Hold on, just read the post above. I wonder if the practice test for 2010-11 is also now the 1/07 QAS…

^I believe the January 07 QAS is the same as the 09-10 Official Practice Test. What’s weird is that I have two different versions of the January 07 QAS, which contain two completely different tests. One is the same as the Online Course Pretest/09-10 Official Practice Test and the other is a completely different test.

How do you identify which test is which QAS? Do you compare the answers, the essay prompt, or something else?

I compare the actual questions (the first question in each section to be exact).

LightSource, I think you may be confused. I just checked my 2006 QAS and the 2009-2010 practice test is the same

You are off by a year. You problably have both Jan '06 and '07

Some of the questions in the practice tests from long, long ago in 1995-2002 are ridiculously obscure or written oddly, especially Practice Test #5.

would using old tests from 1995 be helpful or not? Such as the 10RS Second Red Edition or the third edition.

Yeah, I just realized that mistake; thanks for the heads-up. Consolidated list:

7= May 2006

8= May 2007 (Sunday)

9= October 2007

Pretest= January 2006

Woops, forgot BB2 and the Booklets.

Consolidated List:
BB2 Test #1= October 2006
BB2 Test #2= January 2007
BB2 Test #3= May 2007
05-06 Booklet= March 2005
06-07 Booklet= October 2005
07-08 Booklet= March 2005
08-09 Booklet= October 2005
09-10 Booklet= January 2006
OC Test #7= May 2006
OC Test #8= May 2007 (Sunday)
OC Test #9= October 2007
OC Pretest= January 2006

What? OC Tests 1, 2, 3, 6 are the previously-administered exams. You may even check the SAT Online Course FAQ on these forums; tests 7-9 give score ranges while 1,2,3, and 6 give exact scores. I’ve already compared these tests to QASs that I have.

I think the CB Online also has a test that was the official test from 2004-2005 (the first year the test was administered). I have the official prep booklet from that year, and it appears to be the same as Online Course test #6 (Essay is about whether you need to be competitive to succeed…).

Thus
OC Test #6 =2004-2005 Practice Test
