Updated Scores and List! Chance me please? :)

Colleges: (I know its a big list, respond for whichever schools you want, you don't have to evaluate all of them if you don't want to, any input is appreciated)
Georgetown EA SFS(OBSESSED haha, first choice)
Tufts
WashU
Brown
Pomona
Middlebury
GW

Class of 2008
Arizona resident
Jewish (yeah, since every school is lacking Jews... psh)

Academic:
Rank: 40/600 at VERY competitive public. Would be higher but some classes from my semester abroad could not be weighted. 93rd percentile.
ACT: 32 (35 E 29 M 35 R 28 S)
W GPA: 4.6
UW GPA: 3.86
7 APs by end of senior year
Most rigorous schedule available at school
Taking a Hebrew class outside of school
Did a semester abroad as a junior (in Israel)
National Merit SF

ECs:
Semester Abroad in Israel 11-Spring Semester
8 Hours a week at inner city school teaching English to Spanish-speaking Children 11 12
Regional Historian for SW region of youth groups 12
Temple Youth Group (TYG) 9 10 11 12
Communications Vice President of TYG 11
Programming Vice President of TYG 12
Spanish Honor Society 10 11 12 (Community Service Vice President 12)
Leadership Camp Summer 2006
Day Camp Counselor Summer 2007
Hebrew High 10 11 12
NHS 11 12
Held job for two years at postal store

Note: Because I did a semester abroad, it was difficult to expand my ECs because I was away from all of them. My TYG ECs take up most of my time in the year, and I was able to continue with those while in Israel.

Another Note: Are those ACT scores better than my 2100 SAT (straight 700s)? Not sure which to send, or if I should both. ACT is a bit higher but WAY unbalanced which is good and bad. SAT is consistent haha.

Thoughts?

Georgetown EA SFS--Reach
Tufts--Match to Slight Reach
WashU--Reach
Brown--Slight Reach
Pomona--Slight Reach
Middlebury--Slight Reach
GW--Safe Match

Your GPA is very good, but your rank, quite simply, stinks for the schools you have chosen.

Pick a bunch of schools just slightly lower than what is listed here and you won't have any problems. As it is, I don't see you getting into any of these but GW. I don't know who advised you on the schools you selected, but I absolutely hate your list.

Why aren't you considering schools in the 95-96 selectivity area (Michigan, NYU, John Hopkins, CMU) or even a 92-93 (Penn State), instead of Wash U (99), Brown (97, but big on using rank), Pomona (99), Middlebury (98), Tufts (98), and Georgetown SFS (98-99). And GW is about a 88-89.

P.S. I'd send both the ACT and SAT scores. The ACTs are higher, but like you said they don't show the balance the SAT scores do.

GWU is your only relatively safe school.

Applying EA to Gtown won't really help you -- i.e. you'll have the same chance as if you'd applied RD. Only ED helps you because it's binding and shows true commitment. EA may show commitment, but more than anything, it just shows you cared enough to submit your application early. If you check EA acceptance rate for Gtown, it's about equal (some years lower) than RD.

All your schools besides GWU are reachy.

Calcruzer--what numbers are you using for selectivity (95, 99, etc.)?

GW is my safety school. I'm def aware the others are reaches, but definitely not completely out of reach. Would I be wiser to apply to another school in Georgetown? But my class rank will also be explained by counselor because it had to do with the fact that they won't rank my classes.

29 Math looks kind of bad... Consider sending both?

Salpert--no one knows what your real chances are of course, but your list has a ton of really hard schools to get into. Sure, apply if you want, because you never know, but add in a couple of safeties/matches. Also, I'm not sure why your class rank is getting attacked. Okay, it's not the tippy top, but it's quite respectable and it's within range if you bring a lot of other stuff to the table.

By the way, although statistically you can consider GWU a match--it is a lot of people's back-up to Georgetown and will likely get a lot of well-qualified applicants this year. I have heard unsupported anecdotes about really great students not getting in last year and it was attributed to the school not feeling the love. I have no idea if this is true, but it would inspire me to be cautious about looking at GW as a sure thing.

I didn't list every single school I'm applying to, like U of Arizona and such, so I'm not screwing myself over, those were just the schools I was curious about. And I do really like GW, I'm visiting and interviewing so that should show interest.

Sounds good then. You've got your bases covered. A bunch of your schools are pretty small and it will depend on how you craft your application.

I have almost no Ap's in my transcript, will that affect me a lot?

I have the same problem as you do. Once they answer you, could you please share the information with me?

I ride horses, and am a memmber of the national vaulting team. In addition, I am in 2 pre-ap classes, belong to leadership and MUN at school, and was in NJHS in middle school. My gpa is 90-95. Does somebody know about some kind of scholarship that might interest me?

<<why aren't="" you="" considering="" schools="" in="" the="" 95-96="" selectivity="" area="" (michigan,="" nyu,="" john="" hopkins,="" cmu)="">></why>

calcruzer- I need to defend my alma mater here: its Johns Hopkins, with an "S". You didn't go to Tanford by any chance, did you? Assuming you're using Princeton Review selectivity ratings, Hopkins is a 98, and in any event is more selective than the schools you're lumping it in with. Go Jays!

The list of schools I am most likely applying to is Arizona, GW, UMiami, Tufts, WashU, Georgetown. I asked chances for Brown, Pomona and Middlebury more out of curiosity than anything. What do you think my odds are for Georgetown, that's my number one.
