Schools (in order of preference):

  5. Brown
  6. Northwestern
  7. Duke
  8. Emory
  9. Tulane (already submitted RD)
  10. Kenyon (Cultural Connections fly-in)

  16. Cal Poly SLO (brother attends, already submitted RD)

Thank ya’ll for your feedback/responses! I really appreciate it.

That B in Painting actually made me laugh. =D>
The thing that strikes me about your statistics and other things in your post is how similar we are. However, we have very different college lists with only very little overlap. That said, here is what I think. I would advise you to take this with a grain of salt of course, as I’m also a senior completing my first application cycle.

Princeton (SCEA) - high reach for absolutely everyone
UPenn (applying Huntsman if Pton doesn’t pull through) - low reach
Dartmouth (accepted into Dartmouth Bound, but couldn’t go b/c JSA at Princeton) - reach
Brown - reach
Northwestern - reach
Duke - reach
(These are reaches because of test scores. Get it up to a 2150 or so and you’ll be more competitive.)
Tulane (already submitted RD) - match with likely merit aid
UVA (EA) - low match
UNC Chapel Hill (EA) - high match (difficult for OOS)
UC Berkeley - high match
UCLA - match
Cal Poly SLO (brother attends, already submitted RD) - match

The rest I’m not familiar enough that I would feel comfortable commenting, sorry.

I think your strengths really lie in your academics. You’ve taken an extremely rigorous course load (I’m also going through HL Lit and History) with lots of IB and AP work, and you’ve had a high degree of success. The thing that is pulling you down, for me, is your testing. Doesn’t quite match up with your nearly perfect GPA. I would wait to see what scores come in for the ACT/SAT and hopefully they bump you up.

Would you mind taking a look at my thread, since we have similar interests? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1830636-180-days-to-go-so-help-me-stay-sane-by-predicting-my-chances.html

Curious why didn’t you do EA for Tulane?

@Chopinspiano Princeton is SCEA, so I can’t apply to any other privates EA. I would’ve otherwise

UPDATE: ACT retake is a 34! 36 E, 29 M, 36 R, 34 S

bumpity bump bump bump

If u get the score up to 33+, I would say NW, Brown, and Duke will become high matches. Good luck!! Just be aware that as you are applying to a multitude of difficult schools, that you can’t get into all of them (chance and luck won’t allow it generally).

can u chance me too? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1838238-ucla-berkeley-cornell-will-chance-back.html#latest

Congrats on 34, I bet Princeton accepts you.

DEFERRED Princeton, so I applied to the other schools on the list + Reed. I could really use some input right now!

Congrats on that 34 C! Your numbers are now good enough to pull you through the first round for most colleges. However, what do you think is going to pull you through the applicant pool once your academics have been assessed? The fact that I’m asking this question will probably be asked by an adcom, which may indicate that there isn’t an apparent sort of dedication within your app. What are you passionate about? How in depth did you go with a certain EC or two? Overall, you have a pretty good chance for most of your the colleges that you’re applying to.

Chance back?
