NHIE worn a uniform.

Bump

When my son first went to school we got every required thing on the list and more. (His school has a uniform so we just had to buy that) Transporting things like a broom is a hassle (especially if you have to fly or take some other mode of public transportation). This year I’m just going online to Wal-Mart and ship them right there, forget the packing them. As far as clothes e-bay has some brand new stuff just put in the brand you want. However I’m going to wait till the first couple of days in to get him stuff since it seems like what I pre-buy is either wrong or gets worn once.

@boardingscmom I’m sorry but couldn’t resist. A broom! Congratulations on being a Hogwarts parent! My children never got the owl post on their 11th BDays. So sad and disappointing. Still waiting.

Can’t the broom transport itself?

@ChoatieMom I don’t think so. But you can always just accio it, if you’re strong enough.

I just got a flier thing from Bed Bath and Beyond offering a $79.99 7 piece dorm kit in twin or twin XL. Includes a storage organizer, comforter and sham, cotton sheet set, and a throw.

To funny, I didn’t realize till I reread it that I wrote broom and fly in the same sentence. My son does take the train to get back and forth to school so…

Platform 9 3/4 it is :))

BUMP : Time to start shopping, People
Most of my room stuff is from Target (mattress topper, sheets, alarm clock, etc) with the exception of my duvet, which is from Overstock. Clothes wise, I shopped at F21 (cardigans, dresses, some sleepwear), Loft (pants/chinos, more cardigans) and Zara for jackets, plus other stores I can’t really remember.
Anyone know where to find dorm tape?
And is a mattress topper really necessary? When I was five, I fell asleep on the floor of Home Depot.
Hell to the yes!!!
Staples or Walmart for starters.
@stargirl: The floor of Home Depot is much more comfortable than a dorm mattress without a topper.
(@skieurope: I was scandalized by your comment on the “Stupidest Reasons” thread. Once the euphemisms go, there goes civilization
Advice on where to go for a mattress topper? What price range am I looking at?
We bought a 3" topper (twin XL) at overstock.com and had it shipped directly to the school. I believe it was less than $100. I see today that overstock has an Independence Day sale still going and has one for $64.99.
Walmart has had them for less than $30… for a cheaper option, you can always find the “egg crate” type vs. the memory foam.
I think that’s what I’ll end up doing. @NYCMomof3 said her D uses an egg crate one at Solebury, and I have my upcoming three weeks at Yale to try it out.
I spent about $100 on a nice one freshman year… daughter sent it back home with me, claiming that she thought her mattress was just fine without it. She has been perfectly content without one…
What the heck is dorm tape? Is that to mark a line down the exact center of the room?
