Take a look at the exciting things happening at Texas State!

Shows, testimonials and the latest one: Broadway composer Andrew Lippa and head of the musical theatre program Kaitlin Hopkins take Texas State University musical theatre students into the studio. While serving as the musical theatre program’s first Composer in Residence, Andrew and the students recorded “It Gets Better” to aide the efforts of the national anti-cyberbullying campaign of the LBGT community. All proceeds generated from this video will be directly donated to The Trevor Project! Andrew’s incredibly inspiring song matched with outstanding student talent has produced a rare and beautiful gem! Enjoy!

watched most of A Little Princess on streaming video tonite; cute show; and a nice showcase for Texas State. my only question would be that ms. hopkins and her talented husband were such a large part of the show, it seemed MT students took a back seat. the two student female leads were extremely talented but the rest of the student cast was window dressing or should i say simply had little to do.

I was fortunate enough to be at the show on Sunday evening. It did not seem like the students were taking a backseat at all to Kaitlin and her husband. I didn’t watch the stream so I’m not sure of the camera angles. The show was amazing in person and the talent level at TSU was fantastic - most of the students in the “leads” were younger so I can’t imagine what the seniors can do. The opportunity for the students to have 2 weeks of working with Andrew Lippa - wow!!!
