This weekend, I had a lucrative performance at Speech and Debate States, and in 4 days my team is aiming to have an even more lucrative victory at Mock Trial states.

Is it too late to send updates to Harvard if I send them late Saturday/early Sunday (post-Mock Trial)?

Congrats on your achievement!
Send your debate thing now, ASAP. This late in the game, it can't really make much of a difference, but every day you wait makes it less and less likely it will be considered. If you do end up doing well in Mock Trial, send them that news when you get it. Don't wait on that to give them your debate news.

Someone posted on another thread that all decisions are made by March 19. So hurry up!

i'm genuinely impressed with how nice you guys are - i hesitated from posting before because this board gave off the vibe of tearing people to shreds

on a serious note, here's my qualm: i already sent in a letter a few weeks ago telling them about Debate districts (qualified for states (first place in district), qualified for nats (first place in district again)), mock trial (qualified for states, top seed), and a few other things (update on my science research pet project, etc)

If i send something again a few weeks later, will I come off as overzealous? obnoxious?

I have the same "qualm." I received an award for community service and sent in updates. But just yesterday I received an official letter from my state senator along with an outline/official document listing why I was awarded the award. Do send this in? I don't know if I'm being annoying or just backing up my claims about my accomplishments.

my college adviser at school told me it's almost better to send updates now because it's crunch time. they're all in committee sessions, so these little things could put you over the edge.

Maybe essays are a little too much, but if you guys have new awards and stuff, I think you should definitely send it in... god, you guys are all so accomplished... seriously, if you guys don't get in, then there seriously is no justice in this world....

Inaina,
I feel like crap after reading the stats/specs on the kids on CC

is it just me, or does CC cut through confidence?

i'll sound like a hippy saying this,
but we're all accomplished in our own ways. regardless of what harvard tells us, the genuine benefit from these accomplishments comes from self-satisfaction, not harvard's satisfaction.

Yep. I used to read all the crazy chance threads from people in my year, stupidest idea ever. Now I've stopped looking at their stats. It was stupid and didn't help me any--I have no idea what their chances are, or what their applications look like, or what my chances are, etc. etc. Even if you're not looking at chance threads...stay away from stats in general. Nothing stressed me out more than looking at the previous years' decision threads (where people posted their stats and their admissions decision.) Comparison is useless, because the nuances of others' applications and more importantly the criteria of the committee are not known to us.
It's 3 weeks until decisions...no point in worrying or discussing stats now. Just watch the time fly by.
Best of luck!

I was considering send in another essay but then decided against it. I figured that they had an application deadline for a reason. I believe that my interviewer also said something about sending in extra stuff, but only if it was an award or significant honor.

I've sent them all the awards I've won since my app was sent in. I emailed the file room last monday to update my file, and they sent me an email back that said the stuff would be added to my file. Thus, they're definitely still taking updates. The way I look at it, there's nothing to lose.

Well, Idk, I guess people are just so worried that they want a second, unbiased opinion. I know I do... for example, I know responses from all my personal friends and family, there's a trend and you know some of them are biased...

Mom: No... I don't think so, my friend's daughter had a 2400
Dad: Haha, with your GPA?
Personal friend A: Oh, Im sure you will get into... where is it that you are applying?
Personal Friend B: What? YOu applied to my college?? <insert curseword="" here="">
Personal Friend C: Haha, that's funny... oh, you're serious
Personal Friend D: Of course, you have... ah... mumble going for you
Personal Friend E: Oh, you have great stats! Look at your... eh... well...</insert>
