I want to update colleges on activities that I've already mentioned in my application. For example, I started a club 2 years ago and I'd like to update schools on the kinds of things that the club is working on right now (entering competitions, attending events outside of schools, planning fundraisers, etc.). I want to show that I've stayed involved in my extracurriculars while waiting for decisions. I don't have any new awards (maybe besides National Merit) to show off, but I think it's important to show that I'm still working hard and that I'm still interested in the school. Is this a waste of time?

Don’t do it.

It’s natural to feel you must do everything you can. That’s already been done. Just enjoy your senior year.

What about a new activity that I got involved in? It’s a nonprofit group to support minority rights in my state government. It’s interesting…is it worth the update?

rlfaad: it’s one line on your resume. It won’t matter. Your eventual decision will be based on what you’ve already done. Plz believe me.
