I looked around and wasn't sure where to put this, so I decided I would just put it in to Pomona thread because this is where I am most often.
I found out last week that I'm a National Merit Finalist and yesterday I did well at an invitational debate tournament (at Stanford). I want to tell the colleges I applied to (mostly just Pomona) about these new development in hopes that they'll help my chances of admission. Does anyone know what the procedure, if one exists, for this is? Thanks!

I would write a letter to the Admissions Office outlining these new accomplishments. It may be that there is one particular Admissions Officer that is responsible for your geographic area. If you know who that is you can address it directly to him/her.

I am in the same boat. It seems that if you email the admissions office front desk notifying them of your accomplishments, and asking them how to add them to your application, they will do it for you. Congrats by the way!

That’s a good idea, failsafe. I think I’ll do that. Thanks!

Also, if you listed them as your number one choice when you were named semifinalist, NMC will update Pomona in early march saying that you selected them as your first choice and are a NMF.

Oh! I didn’t even think of that. I think I’ll still tell them sooner to ensure it’ll have the maximum effect on my possibility of admission. ****, I really want to go to Pomona.

When my son was applying, he declared Pomona his school choice on his NMS form. (He wondered if that had anything to do with being rejected by Stanford.) But I think it would help Pomona see that you are serious about attending.

I know exactly how you feel! I wish you luck and hope you get in!! Hopefully I will too…its definitely one of my top choices. I just can’t stand the wait!!

Also, in case you’re wondering, I’ve updated some other schools in the same way I mentioned earlier and they responded saying they added my accomplishment.
