Updating FAFSA with IRS Online Database?

Quick question:

So I've already filled out the FAFSA and updated the numbers with info for 2013 tax

Sorry, I posted that on accident…

Here’s the normal message:

So I’ve already filled out the FAFSA and updated the numbers with info for 2013 tax return figures. When I was updating the estimates to actual values, there was an option to do this is all with the IRS’s online databases (or something like that) At the time that method was unavailable (you have to wait 11 weeks). So even though I already updated the numbers for the 2013 tax returns, should I, and do I have to use the online database method of finding the tax figures? I hope that made sense, thank you.

Has your fafsa been selected for verification? If so, you should use the Data Retrieval Tool, it will satisfy part of the verification requirements. If your fafsa hasn’t been selected for verification it’s not required but is ok to do. You’ll get practice for next year should you be selected for verification.

No, my fafsa hasn’t been selected for verification. And yes, Data Retrieval Tool is what I meant to say haha. Since the numbers are already set I think I won’t use it as to not mess anything up. Thank you!
