updating grades for UC Applicants

Who has done it?

I'll do it tommorow, along with the berkeley one as well.

so.. theres a different update form for berkeley than all the other UCs from what i understand.. is that correct?

yeap that is correct

WillDO... looks like we can update now. i signed in, the berkeley one looks like a its gonna take a little time to do.. entering everything

oh yea? I still get a blank page on the update form for the UCs. and yea the berkeley app is going to be long.

On the Berkeley app itself, is there a place where you update your fall grades, or is it only the IGETC/Breadth requirement page and the course summary page?

i think that the fall update form is the second form they senmd you. should be avalible on tuesday.

I did it 5 minutes ago... Now I play the waiting game

good luck .

First, a question. Does the Berkeley update site want the class names as they appear at Berkeley or as they appear at my CC. E.G. Pol Sci 1 (Berkeley) or POSC 121 (my CC)?

Also, I think the Berkeley update site has a mistake on it. Under Breadth Requirement, I am selecting IGETC because that's what I am using. Under the "Language other than English" requirement it says:

"Language other than English -- Proficiency equivalent to 2 yrs of the same language in high school w/grades of C or better; or college-level course(s) equivalent to 2 yrs of high school language (check assist.org for your school); or AP language exam scores of 3, 4, or 5; or IB (higher level) language exam score of 5, 6, or 7."

I'd like to point out "2 yrs of the same language in high school w/ grades of C or better" which I have.

Directly below that box it has the option to check/uncheck

"I completed 3 years of the same foreign language in high school with letter grades of "C" or higher for each semester."

Well I don't have 3 years of the same foreign language in high school, I have 2. That's what IGETC said I needed. I think its just a typo. Let me know. Thanks.

"First, a question. Does the Berkeley update site want the class names as they appear at Berkeley or as they appear at my CC. E.G. Pol Sci 1 (Berkeley) or POSC 121 (my CC)?"

Obviously you enter the name of the class you took, the CCC class. The slots should already have the name of the Berkeley courses there.

The names are already there for SOME of the major prereqs so it wasn't OBVIOUS. thanks tho

chunkphat:

Yes, IGETC requires 2 years of high school foreign language, but I think Berkeley wants three years if you're not using IGETC (for some reason) to fulfill the requirement. On www.assist.org :

Foreign Language Requirement
The foreign language requirement may be satisfied after transfer, but
it should be satisfied by the end of the student's third (junior) year.
Complete a course comparable to the third year of a foreign language in high
school or the second semester of a foreign language as taught at Berkeley.
You may also satisfy this requirement with a score/grade of: 550 on the SAT II
Foreign Language Subject Exam, if taken before May 1995; 590 on the SAT II
Subject Exam, if taken May 1995 or later; 3 or better on a Foreign Language
AP Exam; C or better on a GCE "A" or "O" Level Foreign Language Exam.

You may also satisfy this requirement by completing the entire IGETC pattern by
the end of the spring term that precedes fall enrollment at Berkeley.

So, if you've stated you're using IGETC then it should be understood and I think the check box is for people who are not using IGETC to fulfill the requirement.

on the first part of the Update form what does the list schools mean? The schools I'm attending for the spring semester or the schools I have attended?

I ask because I went to American River college for my first year, and Laney, Merrit & Alameda college the next year. For the fall I went to Merrit only (so 3 years will be spent at a ccc). The update application automatically listed Laney and Merrit but also American river college. It did not list alameda. I'll only be attending Laney and Merrit for the spring so should I take off the American River college from the update app?

I thought I answered the probation and IGETC questions in november, are they asking that for everyone?

Can we update this more than once?

SHould we wait for Winter grades?

Will you have satisfied the General Education (GE) requirements at a UC campus (UC Inter-campus transfers only)?

For this I put "doesn't apply," right?

Another thing, my PHIL 7 (Logic) course does not show up as CCCT. What can I do about this?

go to assist and make absolutely sure you typed it in accordingly

do you get an advantage in admissions if you complete the update earlier?
