Updating Harvard?

If you have just gotten an important award, and want to update Harvard on it, are you supposed to mail a letter with this one update. Or more easily just email the update??

I'd send an email, and if you don't hear a reply, follow up with snail mail.

D called the admission office. They said that the best way is to send them a fax, indicating your name, birth date and school you are attending. We did. We also mailed them a hard copy since we have no way to verify if they received the fax or not.

Good luck.

what kind of achievement/award is big enough to update harvard on? will they look down on you if what you update them on isn't significant enough?

i had my counselor put updates in her rec for midyear report

is there anywhere we can find the name of our regional rep?

I have the same question as justask7. like, national merit finalist, for instance. inform them or not?

Yes, send an update for major awards.

justask7: if you trust Harvard, they say that they look for reasons to accept you. So, it can't hurt, right? I guess any award regional level catch their attention. These were in my list. One of 18 art portfolio chosen out of 29,400 that are used in AP Art teacher workshops, 1st in State (some art contest sponsored by a state education association), 3 keys in Scholastic Art Contest, letter of national recognition for Eagle Scout (i had it in my original app, but i'm just reminding them i guess...lol), National Merit Finalist. I also included the art pieces that won. I'm sure the art themselves won't count, but one contest required an artist statement, so I attached that too. (This was to get around "don't send in additional essays." They can't hold it against me, because it was a part of my art submission). Yeah... this turned into a giant rant of nothing.

What if you get an internship at your senator's office?
I applied, and am waiting for a reply.

Bump,

I have the same question again. It seems that I will be getting an internship at Senator Whitehouse's office in Rhode Island. Is this something that Harvard would like to hear? Also, do updates like these raise your file again for question?

I recently won 1st place at a regional English competition (I am international), and as a result, I got full 4-year scholarship to a certain college in my town...
Is it anything worth sending an update? (1st in region for English, but then it got me a scholarship to some other college -?)

If I send an update, where should I e-mail it? (through admissions website's Contact Us form?)
I will also follow up with a fax, too.
