Updating Sooner vs Waiting for LOCI

hey cc,

I’m an EA applicant to UofM. I have a weak gpa with a very strong upward grade trend, and I feel that my continued success in senior year is an invaluable part of my application. My school operates on the trimester system, wherein I will have official grades right after Thanksgiving break. Around this time, I will also be inducted into my schools NHS.

My question is:
should I email my admissions counselor right as first tri grades come out, and let her know I’m being inducted into NHS and take the opportunity to stress how I feel I’m just now entering my academic prime / let her know my grades this tri are really good (my school automatically sends first tri grades anyways)

or will sending this info earlier just steal the thunder from my LOCI when I’m deferred?

I just hope that they review my app with the first tri grades included, I’m taking very tough classes and doing well, and I want to do something to encourage them to look at them in the first round. Is that silly? Would a better option be to ask my hs counselor to call and say - wow look at her grade huh?

To clarify - grades would be updated beginning of December

Our school advised students who were on a strong upward trend to not submit an application until those better senior grades came out. It’s better to make a strong case the first time round rather than dig yourself out of a hole.

If the app has been submitted, provide the update as soon as you have it.
