My schedule for Spring Quarter 2019 at CC has changed (slightly) since I submitted the transfer academic update back in January. The UC application says I can update my courses, but I’m afraid if I submit another update it might look like I missed the January deadline? How should I update my classes?
Just email uc admissions. Shouldn’t be a big deal. I am pretty sure thousands have done this before.
I asked UCSD and UCLA if I should notify them via email when I change my coursework, and they said: “Updating your TAU will suffice”
When I was applying last year all I had to do was update the TAU. I remember calling them and they told me to do just that.
So can transfer applicants go in at any time and update the TAU? I thought it was limited to certain windows of time? My daughter updated hers in January with her grades from fall quarter. Now she’s registering for spring quarter and hasn’t been able to get into all the classes she anticipated she would. She’s waiting to see if wait lists move but probably will have to modify what classes she said she’d be taking for Spring. And they’ll want winter quarter grades to be updated too. I’m just not sure the timing of doing those changes. I know that UCSC says decisions can start coming out as soon as March 17 and I don’t know if students should update with anything they know that’s different before that date even if it still could change again?
@CAtransplant The TAU priority deadline was Jan. 31 but she can submit it at any time.
The schools may or may not upload any new TAU’s but at least it would have been submitted. It is also the only way to send updates because if you email the UCs, they will tell you to update your TAU.
ok, thanks @HeyItsNick
According to the admissions officer I spoke with I was told to submit any changes as It could make it in time before review of my application, This AO was for Berkeley specifically.
@CAtransplant These are the same issues I’ve been having. Updated by TAU again on 3/4. They can see that you’ve previously done the January update.
Thanks @Joseph590 @ericbadmon @UCtransfer951
@lookingxaround My daughter has registered for some classes but is hoping to get into others. She’s at a 4-year-college on the quarter system and Spring quarter starts 4/1. Trying to decide if she should update it now or wait a bit since there’s a decent chance some classes could change. Do we think that they would change admission decision based on classes a student is taking Spring quarter, assuming they are not required classes for their major?
Just in case some people are wondering - I updated my TAU on 3/4 and UCSB downloaded it on 3/7 so at least one of the UCs are still downloading TAUs.
@CAtransplant The only way I could see this seriously affecting admission would be if a gen-ed or major requirement were taken away by a changed course. For me, I changed Marine Bio to General Bio (took a while to get a Chem pre-req at my school waived), same Biological Sci. requirement met. Just make sure all IGETC or campus breadth requirements are in.
@HeyItsNick How/where can you see if a specific campus downloaded your TAU?
@jedenic I’m not sure about other UCs but UCSB has it under the Transcript tab
@jedenic Good question. I haven’t seen this on any of the application portals.
I went through the UCs that I applied to (UCSD, UCLA, UCB, and UCSB) and only UCSB has a section that explicitly tells you it has received updates.
