Hey everyone,

So I decided to update the TAU tonight as I got my last grade for one of my classes I took Winter quarter. Apparently, the TAU was already closed when I checked today at 10. I wanted to update the TAU because I took a math requirement course and passed with an A-. I thought I would want them to see it since it's important. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do now? I don't know why they closed the TAU so early since most quarter schools get their Winter grades back April 2nd. I also haven't gotten an email requesting for the grade yet, so should I put it off and wait till I do? Seems like the only thing to do now since the TAU is closed.

the transfer update is specifically for fall grades. if they waited around until april for winter grades then they wouldn’t be able to finish decisions probably until july. and thats just way too late. same reason they don’t wait around for high schoolers to finish their second semester before processing their applications.

whatever grades you got up till your fall term, thats it. the only thing they care about for winter/spring qtrs is that you finish the classes you say you were going to and that you maintain a certain minimum gpa (as per the conditions of whichever school accepts you)

Hm… So it doesn’t matter if they see your math grade? It’s just that class was a UC math requirement course, I thought they’d want to see the grade

^ they will see it when you send in your transcript. just make sure its passing

…WHAT. I’ve been working my ass off all winter quarter…it’s seriously closed? I’ll know grades sometime this week…I’m pretty sure I got a 4.0. Gahhh. I want to rip my hair out. You’d think they’d MENTION that it closes completely before all admissions are released. Ugh. I was trying to find out for ages if winter grades even mattered and no one seemed to really be sure…How disappointing. I would have liked to show Berkeley I finished my last prereq with an A. :(

Yeah, unfortunately TAU is for FALL semester grades only. You CAN update your winter grades in TAU but they probably won’t consider those grades in your application or in your GPA.

What I believe is that if you could get the grade – then post it. Then e-mail them to make double sure that they see the change and that it’s noted.

If the TAU is closed as you say it is – e-mail them stating the term, class, and grade that you got. It couldn’t hurt. If they haven’t sent you a decision yet, it might HELP your chances – if it’s a class that is a pre-requesite. Even if it’s not, maybe they JUST MIGHT include it into the GPA. Who knows? Better safe than sorry in my opinion.

So now that the TAU is closed, notify them about grades through e-mail. Usually there is a specific link on the MyAdmissions websites that guide you into notifying admissions about some type of academic update.

Alright thanks everyone I may send them an e-mail, but I did that once for LA and they just told me to update the TAU. Well, it’s closed now, so if they really want to know my grade I’m hoping they’ll just send me an e-mail to ask. I did pass the class so it shouldn’t be a problem and it’ll show up in my transcript later on.

Hold on. Maybe we can just update the MyBerkeleyApp and not TAU? You can update major req and GE on there. Maybe I’ll give them a call.
