I was deferred, and recently found, in the Common App, that I didn’t put one important community service which I had done from Grade 9 to Grade 11.
I am just concerned if the update is going to impress the admission officers or change my application significantly. I am also worried that some might think that I’m an unorganized, unprepared applicant.
Should I update it?
(Sorry for the dumb question. But it would be great if you consider that I am an international applicant and do not have any college counselor who supports me upon overseas college prep.)
Honestly, at this point - this late in the game - updates should only be made for extremely significant accomplishments (state/national achievements). Admissions counselors are probably getting 100s if not 1000s of emails a day at this point - do you really think one community service activity that you forgot about is going to make a difference? With decisions less than two weeks away, it’s best to just sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.
James is probably right, less than a week before decisions isn’t the best time to impress the officers. They’re probably scrambling to get everything ready for D-Day. If it’s keeping you up at night, update it, but if not, just relax. Just a couple more days! Good luck.
