I was waitlisted too…better than a rejection! I know that some of you guys want to stay on the waitlist just to see if you’ll get in, but if you are 100% sure that you’ll be attending another university, please don’t stay on the waitlist. There are so many people out there that are dying to go to Penn, and you might be taking their spot. I know that you’re curious, but some people really, really want to get into Penn! Like me, haha.
Guys I have another question since my first question is still being ignored by everybody So, my exam week starts tomorrow which is due to finish on April 12. I don’t know if I will ever find the time to write & upload my letter of continued interest until then. If I upload it close to the deadline will this show them that I am not interested in Penn while in fact I am DYING to get into Penn???
@dpasa86 – I think as long as you upload your letter of continued interest by the deadline you should be fine. Penn won’t even know how many they can take from the wait list until after the May 1 decision date. My kid submitted his application last year shortly before the midnight deadline and he was still accepted. You could include in your letter of continued interest any new activities or accomplishments from the last few months that were not listed on your application.
@omarohs When I say, I’m doing it for kicks, I mean that I don’t expect much from it. Humor doesn’t translate well I suppose. Naturally if financial aid comes through significantly, I would attend. This may or may not be a likely prospect given a troubling situation for my family, and the fact that Columbia is also generous. I hope that clears things up, and best of luck!
I was waitlisted to the school of engineering. Pretty happy, because I wasn’t expecting much after a slew of Ivy rejections. Does anyone know if the applicant update letter has a deadline? The letter said reply to the waitlist offer by the 15th, but gives no date for the update letter. Since it’s a one-time deal, I would ideally send it later rather than earlier to get all possible updates.
@realisticdreamer The FAQ document says upload deadline is on the 15th I believe, but i’m sure you can get away with it being a little late, since they don’t start looking at the waitlist until May.
Also waitlisted at Penn engineering. Pretty happy about it, after a number of rejections. Though I’ll be committing to UC Berkeley or Georgetown for now. Can one send more than one document? Like a LOCI and an additional recommendation?
Waitlisted @ Wharton. Extremely happy. I’m choosing between USC BU and NEU. Any suggestions as to which one I should attend? I’m dying to go to Penn but sadly I think that my chances are rly low. Everyone who got waitlisted, you should know that you are IVY material and you should be super proud of yourselves. This is truly a remarkable achievement.
Waitlisted at Penn and UChicago… international student here. I guess that needing financial aid and not having an IB program really was a big deal. I will send update letters to both schools. Penn was and is my first choice so this was a blow for me… Good luck everyone.
I sent an email to my interviewer letting her know about my waitlist status and asking if she had any advice. She responded immediately and said she has her fingers crossed for me. She suggested i make use of the single response wisely and told me not to rush it.
