I know that with Harvard, the first $2500 you raise in outside scholarships past the student contribution and summer earnings can go to a fund for buying yourself laptops, printers, other peripherals, etc.

Does Penn do the same? I know it doesn't explicitly state that on their website, but has any current Penn student been able to get the FinAid office to reimburse them for peripheral purchases if they raised enough scholarship money to cover it?

I might be wrong… but this basically sounds like the extra $$$ that you make will be covering your personal expenses - it essentially will be replacing your work study money so now you won’t need a job

at penn, once you get the 2300 summer savings covered through scholarships, anything after that will cut into your work study - and if you get that completely covered (another 3000) then you’ll be exempt from work study
