upenn autobiography

Hey, so does anybody know if the 300 pages of the autobiography includes our life up until this point or does it include the future????

ive been told your supposed to project into the future.

but im sure if u put it in the past they would understand as well

go with whatever one you think you'll be able to tell admissions something more about yourself that the rest of your application didn't successfully convey.

I did mine as if I was 30 or something. It's really your choice since they don't specifically mentioned, so it's pretty open-ended. Whichever one you feel better writing in and can come up with the best story is the one you should be doing.

I did the future... but I can't give an details.

It doesn't matter

ite, thanks.

If it were your life up to this point, would it make 300 pages?

A historical question please. Is the autobiography essay always optional? I seem to recall that it used to be required.

in my autobio, i said that i was shot (...), do you think thats fine

When Penn had their own application, there was a choice of 3 essay topics, one of which was the autobiography.

the adcom at the info session at penn said you could really do whatever you want.

i know a lot of people who projected their future and made it all "Then, I won the Nobel Prize..." but also a lot of people (myself included) just wrote about something that had already happened. i think they basically just want you to write another essay about yourself, and they wanted to ask the question in a more creative way.

Hmm, that makes sense.

I saw this essay as a chance to be creative. Have fun with it! (It was my favorite of all the essays.) Although my story took place in the future (by about 10 years), it did relate back to present day events that have played a siginificant role in my proposed areas of study.
