UPenn/Brown Chances

Okay I narrowed it down A LOT! so I’ll look deeper some more! And when I figure it out, I’ll keep in touch! Thanks a bunch! I Really appreciate it!

If you want to go to either UPenn or Brown, you’re going to need to SHOW (not tell) them how devoted you are to your respective passions - a lot of which will shine through your extracurriculars. You don’t seem to provide a lot of details about the things you’ve done outside of listing your positions; I’d think a lot about all of the things you’ve done in these respective organizations and positions and make sure that those details are clearly mapped out before you enter your application process. People focus on SAT scores a lot, but if your EC credentials are strongly phrased and show dedication and passion (that being, you’ve committed to them for long hours and years AND you’ve shown your undying love for them/specific ones in your essays), a college ad com may ignore your SAT/ACT composite scores altogether.

BEST of luck to you.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I narrowed it to these “reachables”:
Boston college
Wesleyan Univ.
Trinity College
Hopefully Cornell
And college of William and Mary
AND BIG OHH! I forgot to mention I finished Buckeye Boys State! How does that affect things!?

Depends. If Buckeyes Boys State is some sort of “accepted if your parents can foot the bill” thing, probably not. If it’s not so easy to get into and is prestigious, maybe.
Unfortunately I don’t know about the program.

From my understanding it’s pretty selective. First you’re nominated, then each school only sends about 2-5 guys. My school sent 3. Plus I can tell by my surrounding BBS mates. There were a few with ACT scores over 34, and at least one of like 700 with a 36. It’s a leadership experience

It sounds like something worthwhile to mention in your app. As long as you don’t write the “being with kids at BBS made me become a better person” essay. Hope you know what I mean.
Cheers

Improve your ACT/SAT score and write FANTASTIC essays. - You’ll definitely have a shot

I don’t want to be a buzzkill, but people are being pretty optimistic. GPA isn’t a 4.0, but a 3.75 or a 3.8 isn’t going to kill you. What is killing you is your low ACT score (most Ivies have a 25th percentile score of a 30-31, so you should be shooting for a 33+), and you’re lack of ECs. Those ECs might look good for some privates, but not for Ivies! As for your “reachable” schools, I’d say those are all low to mid reaches. URM status will only get you so far, you still need the stats and ECs to back it up.

Just add a safety or two there or you could be in trouble.

So my “reachables” are reaches? What’s a low/mid reach? And some ivies 25th is around 29 (at the least) 50th is the 31-33. I know I should get a 33+ though. But another thing is the lack of activities at my school. And AP classes.

And what would be a safety? Preferably on the east please.

I’ve said twice before: take a look at Syracuse and Northeastern. They are matches at present, but if you get that 33+ they could become fairly obtainable safeties.

Okay thank you! Will do
