Not totally sure for wharton, though I’ve read that it’s definitely lower than that for the overall university, which was 25% last year. Wouldn’t be surprised if it was in the 12% or so range. Wharton is top-notch and they don’t want to admit people unless they are 100% sure that person will do well. They don’t want to offer to many ED sports to people they are “pretty sure” will do well, and not have room for all the RD candidates they are sure will do well.

The university as a whole in 2012 had a 12.4% acceptance rate (stated on their website).
Although exact numbers are unknown for Wharton it’s expected to be around 5-8%. With ED Acceptance rate being anywhere between 13-18%.

So if Wharton is that low, then the other schools must be higher than 12… Does anyone have any idea what CAS is?

Does anyone understand the score choice limitations??? do we have to send every test we have ever taken or can we send all tests from either just collegeboard or just act?

What day does Penn typically send out decisions?

I heard that ED Wharton is just over 10%. I’m fairly sure there was something going around that said last year Wharton’s overall rate was 5. Something %.

I imagine ED for everything else (CAS, SEAS, Nursing) is higher than the overall ED rate given the absurdly low rate of and disproportionate distribution of ED Applications to Wharton.

[Required Testing for Freshmen Applicants - Penn Admissions](http://www.admissions.upenn.edu/apply/freshman-admission/required-testing)

It used to say that if you try to submit a subject test score, you have to submit the entire history even if you are using ACT. Now it just says entire history of all testing.

The ED–and RD–acceptance rates for SEAS and Nursing are generally a bit higher than the overall ED and RD acceptance rates for Penn (based on previous reporting of those rates by various sources–including those schools, themselves–in the past). However, the ED and RD acceptance rates for the College–based on similar sources–are generally similar to the overall rates for Penn. For example, although quite dated, scroll down to the chart showing the breakdown by school for Penn’s Class of 2007:

[University of Pennsylvania Admission Strategies 2007](ivysuccess.com is for sale)

Again, that’s quite dated, but reports since then have also indicated that the acceptance rates for the College remain similar to Penn’s overall rates, and the relative sizes of the schools and their applicant pools tend to corroborate that.

Any word on when we can expect a decision? (I know it’s early, but that 5-15 December Time Window is ridiculously busy for me)

And also do we have any early indication of how many people applied ED this year yet?

Given the probs with Common App this year, I’d say the later (Dec 15th) dates are more likely. The colleges keep the date deliberately fuzzy “around mid december” for a reason.

I believe it was dec. 12 last year so prob around then

Will we get an email that our results are in or do we just have to keep checking the site?

^ At least a few days ahead of time, you’ll be given an exact time and date that decisions will be released on the decision portal.

Has anyone’s penn portal started tracking their app yet?

@Kobe. No. Not yet. At least not for me.

Bloomberg says that Wharton’s overall acceptance rate is 10%:

[University of Pennsylvania: The Wharton School - Undergraduate Profile - Businessweek](<a href=“Bloomberg - Are you a robot?”>Bloomberg - Are you a robot?)

Yeah 10% is about what I figured.

And also UPenn’s website is saying that you get your portal log-in 3 days after you submit your supplement.

The Wharton acceptance rate reported by Bloomberg has come up here before, and been disputed convincingly. Read from post #136 on:

I read that as ED 10%. 10% for ED sounds about right to me.
