UPenn Class of 2018 RD Applicants

@college3162

I do (in the suburbs).

@book05
@Qwerty1739

I’m also an international student applying for an ivy and other LACs asking for 30,000 a year

I only applied to 7 colleges, defered by CaseWestern, accepted to U of Illinois Chicago Honors

even tho i got a financial aid letter a couple of days before the decisions come out, I really don’t want to get my hopes up :confused:

Because apparently you’re still missing things that would have enabled them to decide it earlier? :/

Usually Financial Aid lags in their paperwork trying to calculate and process so many applicants. I wouldn’t look into it much. Best wishes for tomorrow!

Anyone getting Financial Aid notification is, I think, admitted.

What if you already completed the FA and sent in all documents?

Why would they notify you that you didn’t turn everything in if you did? That would be ridiculous? Let it go. It’s so far passed ridiculous. They shouldn’t have to tell you guys you forgot stuff. I would think that would be an automatic throw out or no FA because you didn’t pay attention

Can someone actually post what their financial aid email says?

@Oregongirl14 That’s a bit harsh, don’t you think? I, for instance, am an international applicant and can never be sure if something got lost in the mail or not.

Well to me it’s kind of ridiculous that especially domestic applicants couldn’t be bothered to take the time to check their portal, or take the 2 minutes it takes to email the university to double check their things arrived. To me it shows that people just didn’t care enough to look.

I can see what you’re saying Oregongirl14

Accepted: Tulane, Miami, Notre Dame, Rice
Waitlisted: WashU
Waiting: Penn, Vandy
Not really expecting to get in at Penn. Would be ecstatic if I do, though. Best of luck to everyone else!

In my case, I’m well aware that my FA submissions are late because my parents are waiting on documents from other agencies to be able to file. I am not sure it’s fair to me or others in my situation to just throw out my application and not give me financial aid because it’s just totally out of our control. Not everything is as easy as checking and submitting documents so certainly one shouldn’t criticize and suggest something without knowing what another is dealing with @Oregongirl14 !!

I understand where you’re coming from @Oregongirl14 and with so many students applying and the competition running high , everyone should try to get their documents in. Just saying that there might be cases where it’s not the applicant’s fault and only because someone is a bit forgetful or just stressed out by this whole applying to college thing, they shouldn’t be denied FA/admission. :slight_smile:

Oh I get that. But, it’s not difficult to email. I’m saying the people who “just forget” or “my parents did it”. That just shows lack of caring. It’s also not that hard to email and tell them. "Hi I’m so and so… Blah blah blah. My forms are being processed and will be sent when available. Or their paper works being processed because they were to lazy to fill their forms out early. Some things are unavoidable, but when the portal has been saying incomplete or you don’t bother to check than why should you get the spot I want because clearly you don’t care enough to worry about it.

I did precisely that in Late December, email them to check if I had everything in (even though I’m sure I already sent everything in). And this was my reply…

"Because of the volume of requires we cannot confirm individual requests for receipt of application and application materials. Once we review your file, if you are missing anything we will contact you to let you know. Otherwise, we have everything we need to make our decision.

Regards,
Penn Admissions"

Unfortunately the FA office doesn’t care why they are late, even though there’s a good reason for them to be late. So all the “I don’t have the info yet” look just the same as “I didn’t feel like doing it yet” in their eyes.

Wow we have some harsh people on here… lol It’s probably not condemning but nor would I say it helps. Both of the offices are often run separately soooo

I don’t think I’m being harsh – I’m just reminding that circumstances can differ from situation to situation so it’s probably best to not pass judgment!
