UPenn Class of 2018 RD Applicants

^So then I would not suggest reading into the FA office’s mind :)

I was just passing along what the Financial Aid officer told me when I called to explain my situation – no mind reading on my part!

@soccerfan14 okay I apologize. Now I’M being judgmental :)

The anxiety is getting to us all. Only one more day guys! :slight_smile:

no problem!

One thing I told my son: You take care of your applications and I’l take care of FA…however, some things around that time that not all FA forms are submitted. So please be kind to other peple in this forum unless of course you are just perfect:))

No point in sending more FA info now. Good luck CCers!

Looks like Penn will have a record low 7% Regular Decision acceptance rate this year, with an overall acceptance rate (Regular Decision plus Early Decision) of 9.9%:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-pennsylvania/1630538-admissions-numbers-released.html

Look I know a ton of people who left FA to their parents and that is ridiculous. My parents took care of part of it but I was giving them deadlines and checking it myself.

This is about us. Not our parents we need to do it. How can your child be independent in college if they can’t fill out some paper work? Why aren’t your kids on here finding out about their colleges? Why are you?

@oregongirl14

Exactly! Everyone is way too independent on their parents nowadays. I don’t even think parents should be allowed on these RD threads, it should be for applicants only. The applicants should be checking their decisions and making sure all the requirements are met.

For FA, I basically set up an entire schedule for my mom, including dates that everything is due, what needs to be sent, all the fax numbers, etc. All she had to do was follow my directions, and I made sure that everything was sent correctly.

@oregongirl14
I see what you’re saying, but I just don’t understand why you’re making such a huge deal out of this. It’s really none of our business what other people do and how they decide to go about doing things.

@cranberrypie101 I think asking for FA info as a good sign. They would not be asking if they didn’t need the info,

FA works separately from admissions. Unless you’re likely, we will all find out tomorrow. Good luck!

Maybe I am not supposed to get into Penn. After reading this thread I am not sure whether I would want to be in a class with some of you. Let everyone be! I understand that parents want to be involved and I doubt it´s because their kids are lazy but because it´s their money!!! Cut everyone some slack… Good luck to all of you!

Wow guys i think you guys are just freaking out before the decision… calm down…
Although Im not an applicant to Penn, anyone know if ACT Composite of 31 is an okay for Ivies or good LACs cuz IM ALSO FREAKING OUT RIGHT NOW!!!

My point was that people are freaking out because they might have got in because FA was requested. Why can’t it just be because it didn’t come in.

Though I didn’t apply for FA, I think at this time it’s the best that we calm down and… ya know, just let it be.
Que sera sera it is.

The news article says they accepted 168 Philadelphians this year. Is that more or less than last year?

^ They don’t usually break out that number separately from the rest of Pennsylvania (first time I’ve seen it, actually). Given the numbers normally accepted from the Philly feeder schools (Masterman, Central, GFS, Penn Charter, etc.), that’s probably in the range of Philly residents accepted by Penn in recent years.

Why is it so amazingly quiet here compared to last year lol.
