Thank you @Awesome5510 for calling and asking. I really appreciate that you took your time out and asked the questions. And all the best to you with your future! Waitlisted to Admitted or not, I know you will do great things none the less.
I will do that, thank you!
Thank you and the same to you!
My daughter got off of Columbia waitlist.
Congratulations!!!
I just learned that the transfer response deadline hasnāt approached yet so there can be a possible opening due to that.
Open spots for the transfer spots will be given to the waitlisted transfer students not the waitlisted first-year students.
The transfer deadline is June 1st. This year they received over 2000 applications for transfer and they admitted around 100(?).
True lol but that was what one of the AOs mentioned when asked about first year waitlists so I guess thereās a bit of correlation?
No it means he is clueless lol . Thereās a waitlist for transfers too.
Lol newbies in the office maybe.
@anaray congratulations International? Financial aid?
Domestic. But applied for financial aid.
Does anyone have thoughts about Columbia versus U Penn to apply as a transfer ?
Like as which one is easier to get into?
Then there isnāt much difference as their transfer acceptance rate is quite similar ranging sound 6-7%.
Therefore itās really based off of your interest, Penn for humanities and Columbia for engineering so the path is quite straightforward there. Also keep in mind that you donāt really have to make a choice right there because you can always apply for both since thereās only one admission cycle for transfer.
I hope that answers your question.
Thank you.
I thought Columbia was very strong in humanities and social sciences, also, such as History, English, from world-wide reports on education.
They are both top elite universities so they are in fact very good in all subjects but if you really want to make the comparison itāll be humanities (business) for Penn and engineering for Columbia.
Actually, US News places them at 14 and 15 world-wide for Arts and Humanities

Engineering does not come into the US News evaluations on Arts and Humanities.

Iām sorry, I really donāt have much knowledge in regards to the difference between the two but you can certainly apply to both and go from there.
What I originally meant was like if you want business go to Penn, engineering go to Columbia and for everything else itās really up to your preference (location campus etc.).
