We all know how good Wharton is. But how is the general college for someone looking to get into business. I’m thinking about this for two reasons: I probably couldn’t get into Wharton and I’m not sure I would want to focus on business. How would a math/econ major do maybe? I’m especially interested in hearing experiences from anyone who has gone from the general college into business.

Don't use the 'I probably coudln't get into Wharton' argument. If you want business, apply to Wharton. Seriously, don't think it's a lot easier to get into the college. But in any case, you can definitely go from College/Engineering into business.

I think that's a perfectly legitimate argument, considering Wharton is alot harder to get into that the regular college. I really like Upenn and would rather attend the CAS over not attending at all. And that said, I'm not even sure if I'd want to be in Wharton. I want to do business, but I'm more interested in full liberal arts education and think I would enjoy doing a traditional major like Econ/math over a business one.

Wheretogo- you sound exactly like my son, who is now a freshman at Penn. He is in the college. He chose to apply to the college to maximize his admission chances and because he is interested in a lot of things besides just business. He may wind up trying for a transfer into Wharton- or he may not. He is enjoying his classes and considering his options.
