Upenn - Computer Science

How do you guys rate Upenn computer science program? do you think it's better to go to less known school but with better CS program (say U wisc madison) than to go to Upenn (well known school but not top ranked CS program)?

I would go for UW-Madison any time for CS or any other Engineering majors.

I would go to UPenn for better recruiting opportunities.

Well I don't know too much about the UPenn comp sci department specifically but I will tell you that both Google and Microsoft have already had recruiters on campus for the Comp Sci students so I think it is gaining some more respect in terms of career choices after college.

i was just there and my bro's roommate said that the CS is now ABET... which is really good. I am not sure of another CS that is abet in the ivy league

actually the reason why it's now abet certified is because finally upenn put a certain course requirement to get CS degree.
Amusingly, the course requirement is "ethics" of some sort.

FYI, even stanford doesn't have ABET.

jma, are u refering to U Penn?

If I was to put my $0.02 in, I would:

1) Attend Univ of Wisconsin for a BSCS degree
2) Attend U Penn for a MBA with the Info Sys Engineering emphasis to make use of the Wharton Business School

Kenny, I'm referring to Penn.

Carnegie Mellon isn't ABET either- it's not that important in CS.
