On the Common App, Penn allows you to choose schools. Is that a binding decision--meaning it will be hard to switch out later?

That depends. It is usually easy to matriculate into CAS because it’s so big. But I hear it’s near impossible to transfer to Wharton from any other school. I think that Wharton accepts about 30 transfers from CAS per year… that’s not much.

What about trasnferring to and from the engineering school? Is it hard? Do more people major in the CAS or engineering school?

Thanks for your help dfree124

Transferring from one school to another is never a guarantee. To be quite honest, it is in your favor to apply to the school you wish to attend (Engineering, Wharton, CAS, Nursing, or a dual-degree program). Chances of successfully transferring are very often MUCH SLIMMER than getting in as a high school senior.
