UPenn ED 2025

Am I not getting in my consoler has yet to receive an email or call from penn about my grades i had a b every year in one class so 3 on my overall transcript and my school doesn’t send anyone to the ivies so does that mean they just rejected me?

so im screwed with like a 3.89 gpa since i applied test optional

Not necessarily. It won’t help that you applied test optional with a 3.89 gpa but it also depends on your extracurriculars, essays, recs, etc… I’m not saying it won’t be harder since your gpa is lower and you won’t have a test score there but if your grades are overall solid and you stay competitive through other aspects you still could get in. College admissions are weird and not always straight forward; especially now!

All of you who are worried should try focusing your energy elsewhere. There is nothing more you can do and the constant worrying is stealing joy from other parts of your life. At this point, only the adcoms have all the answers and you’ll know their decision soon enough.

Has anyone been able to confirm when Penn is releasing decisions?

Nope, but I think they will notify us by this Friday - at least I hope so. I know this process is keeping us restless, but it is best to just wait. In the end, waiting is all we can do. As for the people who may still be wondering about Penn AOs emailing their counselors, you can check in Common App under the Recommender and FERPA section. If an optional report is submitted, your counselor has sent in either your first quarter grades or some type of updated scheduling - at least to my knowledge. Your counselor may have done this beforehand and might not have even been asked to, and the reason counselors are being reached out to is most likely to get this information that was not submitted beforehand. If you do not have an optional report submitted or your guidance counselor was not contacted, don’t stress yourself out, as either or does not mean you are being admitted. The only thing that will tell us if we are admitted is their decision whenever they are posted. Best of luck to you all!

whats the chance of me getting accepted if I had a coach send my academics to admissions and I scored a 79/80 on the checklist and the coach gives me his support. I applied ED.

If you scored a 79/80 on the academic checklist, then you stand a good chance in that department, but Penn also does receive a great deal of applicants that achieve similar scores. You also have to take into consideration other things such as letters of recommendation, essays, activities, and other miscellaneous things that are found throughout your application. The coach giving you support can give a little help, but admissions officers will make their final decision apart from if the coach really wants you there or not.

Conclusively, nobody on this forum - unless if they happen to be your admissions officer and willing to give you results illegally - is able to tell you your chances. There are too many nuances and the admissions process is a lot more complex than just academics. Nonetheless, I wish you the best of luck.

How will UPenn notify applicants? Through email or will we have to check the portal?

pretty sure they’re sending an email to everyone

In the past, Penn used to send an email with the ED release date & time about a week in advance. To access the decision, you would would have had to login into the application tracking portal though.

i was talking to my counselor yesterday and she said that they might send decisions out later next week (like wednesday-friday)…

someone on reddit said that her friend was notified through questbridge to check her portal for financial aid on 12/16 at 6 pm ct, so that’s probably when ed decisions will come out

I also just got the email from Penn admissions saying that decisions come out on Wednesday, December 16 at 7 pm.

good luck everyone!! only one more week

Everyone else get the same notification email? Which says, “We have enjoyed getting to know you through this process” at the end. That last sentence sounds like a rejection to me lol
