SEAS at Penn is not very strong. Good luck to you at RD. Cornell may have the best engineering among ivies.
Brief profile of someone who got accepted to SEAS last year (RD though): ACT 36 with 36 in every section. SAT not taken. NMF qualifying score both in sophomore (doesn’t count) and junior years, Valedictorian level at the time of applications, 3.97* / 4.7, 8 APs with all 5s, 8 more APs in senior year, 3 subject SATs, with 800s in two and 790 in the other, highly selective summer immersion program attendee at UCSD, one of the college recommendation writers being the director of that program and MIT alumnus/alumna … Senior year class president and numerous other accomplishments …
‘*’ their high school gives all ranges in A, A+, A, A-. While the A+s are ignored by the admissions folks, A-s can pull down one from perfect GPA. The high school had some notorious teachers who would give only one A or A+ per class.
those are just personal opinions.
That view seems to be changing for sure. Penn engineering getting stronger and more competitive and harder to get into every year.
Yes Penn engineering has top notch departments in Materials, Chemical & molecular and Bio engineering. Add to that the close collaboration with their top notch medical school. They have a dedicated building for nano technology and going to build another for data sciences I believe.
anyone have any idea what % of applicants were deferred? thanks
class of 2024 class of 2025
6450 Early Decision Applicants 7692
1256 Early Decision Admitted 1194 (admitted less)
19% Early Decision Admit Rate 15%
for those asking about deferred applicant acceptance rates for rd, Furda said this in a DP post:
“Acceptance rates for deferred early applicants are typically a few percentage points higher than overall regular decision acceptance rates, Furda added.”
There is no concrete acceptance trend, as it depends on the strength of rd applicants that year in comparison to your individual app
what was ur common app essay about! Im asking bc I have similar stats and ecs
I was deferred and I just received my final grades today (I’m from Australia). How can I send them to UPenn?
Thanks for the help!
Got Deferred from WHARTON with 3.895 gpa and no test score urm and first gen tho so that might help
They are supposed to be sent by the school. Check with your school school counselor. If your school doesn’t use systems such as Naviance/SCOIR, then they can send updated trnscript by email to documents@…
i wrote about my personality and how it connects with the idea that we can achieve great things united together, as well as how that fosters selflessness.
