UPenn (ED), Brown, Columbia, JHU

<p>I'm currently a junior residing in California, interested in knowing my chances at the 4 named colleges: UPenn (ED), Brown, Columbia, and Johns Hopkins.</p>

<p>So far, these are my stats:
GPA - 3.8 UW, 4.2 W (9 AP's, 7 Honors)
SAT I - 1580, SAT II's - 790, 770, 770
Recommendations - 1 will definitely be "Few of career"; other "Top 10%"
EC's:
1) Speech and Debate (4 years) - Excellence Award
2) Advanced Percussion (4 years)
3) Cycling Team (3 years)
4) Rights Group - Founder, President
5) Non-profit (internationally recognized) helping disadvantaged students go to school in two 3rd world countries -- Founder, President</p>

<p>Internships at major newspaper and law office.</p>

<p>You have no chance, you will be rejected from every ivy and have to settle for your local TTT.</p>

<p>anyways: i think that you should take ur SATs again, they SUCK, not gonna get u anywhere with that. hmm ur 3.8?! geesh whatd u get? no As? how are ur recommendations gonna be few of career? you never know, the teacher may hate you secretly and want to ruin your life. you got a lotof clubs and crap goin on there, i say you do some research. and oh yea, get 800s on your sat IIs, 700s arent good enough. welp, with those things said, i think now you're gonna have to live the worse year of your life and try to get perfect test scores in everything. sucks to be u.</p>

<p>lol thats obvious, asianboy. we all know that, even that person knows that, he/she just want reassurance and people to say "omg ur so smart, ur going to get into any college u apply." so i thought i might say something different for once. plus, who are we to judge whether he/she will get in or not?</p>

<p>I'm not seeking reassurance -- many of my friends who are seniors and also those who graduated last year were not accepted by many top schools with higher stats; that's why I'm asking.</p>

<p>Nothing is ever a sure thing, but your chances are just as good as anyone's. Just make sure your essays are good.</p>

<p>im gonna have to agree with nguyent on this one... ur scores are just horrible</p>

<p>i think the only schools you can go to are ITT Tech, DeVry, or Bryman College</p>

<p>I think you will get in Penn early if you apply... why is it your first choice. Some schools on the same level, like Johns Hopkins, actually award merit aid to many people with stats like yours... Did you consider applying to Harvard, Princeton, Yale or Stanford Early? I think you'd have a good shot at Princeton early... With good essays and recs, I think you'd have a good shot at Penn, JHU, and Brown Regular Decision. Columbia College has such a low RD acceptance rate (less than 10%) so I can't say the same for Columbia RD. Brown has a fairly high transfer acceptance rate (admits close to a third of transfer applicants). I just think that Penn is an overrated college. US News ranks it #4 and has everyone fooled. Yes they have the top business and undergraduate nursing programs in the country but their schools of Arts & Sciences and Engineering are not even among the top ten in the nation in terms of academics. Also Penn is in a really bad part of Philly...</p>
