I'll have good recs, and one of them is a UPenn alum.

Hook: URM, wrote a novel

Could you chance me for UPenn ED, and also for: NYU, BC, UNC chapel hill, and UVa?

Thank you!!

I’m also applying ED to Penn, but to Wharton. That 25% acceptance rate is very enticing, lol.

You have great ECs, but your GPA is a little low, even for URM. Also, were you taking the most rigorous schedule that you could in terms of number of AP and honors classes? If not, then your GPA may hurt you a little more.

Penn: Reach. However, I would take my chances and apply ED.
UVA: Match. I say this because my sister (URM) got in with lower test scores, same rigor for schedule and a similar GPA.

I don’t really know too much about the other schools and what they look for.

Good Luck :)

P.S. remember that this is just opinion and nothing more. Don’t let me or anybody else deter you from applying anywhere.

Thank you  And yeah I l know, my GPA is so weak. I’m at a pretty good private school so most classes have a higher level, I’m just very average at math and science, which is why I took regular chem and regular precalc Junior year. Freshman year we can’t take any AP’s, and sophomore year I took a rigorous schedule, even for my school. My weakness is definitely math and science, but in the end, I either want to major in English or Business. Thanks so much for the input!

And I want to get into Wharton, but the acceptance rate for that is like 5% so I’m not sure…I just want to go to UPenn…I’m thinking if by some miracle I did get in I would go to CAS and then transfer to Wharton if I could, because I’m still not sure what I’d like to pursue.

You have as excellent a chance as any other extremely competitive applicant  Good luck!

Chance me back?

Wow thank you that means so much :)

Go with where you would see yourself happiest. If you want to major in business then apply to Wharton. You can take tons of English classes at the college at the same time. Don’t just apply to CAS because its “easier” to get into and think that you can transfer into Wharton. Taking that route is much harder than people realize. Likewise, if you want to major in English than by all means go for CAS. Both are great schools at a great university.

I know, that’s part of the reason I love it so much. It’s great for English, but it’s also amazing for business…I haven’t decided yet…all I know is that I’m applying ED, but to Wharton or CAS i have no idea yet haha…chances?

I think that you have a good chance. your GPA is slightly lower but you have good EC.
chance back http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1537311-chance-me-please-ill-chance-back.html</a></p>

thank you!

Your average GPA is somewhat low even if you take out freshman year. still it’s not impossible obviously, but if you can get past the grades/test scores barrier you will have a pretty good chance looking at your lit accomplishments. good luck! :D

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1533018-chance-me-please-i-chance-back.html</a></p>

yeah, I’m really hoping I get past that barrier. Thanks!

bump10char

I think you have a good shot… They will wanna see your first semester/quarter senior grades, so that will help bump your GPA a little (do not have a life the first quarter of school, stay in your room all day and get straight A+). Also keep up the studying for the SAT. With those 2 in mind, I think you’ll have a pretty decent shot. Good luck!

Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1531519-vandy-ed.html</a> (Read comments too, please!)

You have excellent ECs, and the GPA’s a little low but the upward trend is great! I’d say even though it’s a little bit of a reach you definitely have a shot at UPenn ED (: The rest are matches in my opinion.

Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1537549-chance-rising-senior-please.html</a> Thanks!

You have grear ECs and an upward trend for GPA ( İ have the same thing:)) Overall, you have a good shot fir UPenn, ED of course is better! God luck! Chance me back?

wow, the positive feedback is really making my night! Thanks, and I’ll chance all of you back asap :)

I think your ECs are great for Upenn. Your SAT is really good too, nothing to worry about there. NYU you can definitely get into I believe, UPenn should also be really close, but a little of a reach. Best of luck and keep up the hard work!

Strong ECs, retake the SAT, maybe if you get published you can submit a portion of your novel as a supplementary work? But I’m not sure how much your gpa might hurt you, but the upward trend, and hopefully the reasons, are good enough. I’m also doing Penn ED! So good luck to both of us!

Chance me back please?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1537738-my-one-only-chance-thread-need-advice-will-chance-back-penn-ed-hyp-etc.html</a></p>

Thank you so much guys, I was so worried about my GPA because it’s low and in my Junior year I took regular precalc and regular chem (ugh). I’m not a math/science person haha.
Also, question: one of my AP teachers, who really liked me, is a UPenn alum. He gives interviews to applicants, and of course he wouldn’t interview me, but if he wrote me a good rec (he’s known for giving awesome recs) would that be considered an alumni relation and boost my chances?
