UPenn ED Class of 2021 Discussion Thread

Just applied to Huntsman and Wharton second choice.

Good luck to all of you guys!

Applied ED to Wharton. Anyone care to chance me on my most recent thread? Good luck guys

Hey Guys,

As long as you submit the materials before the nov 1 deadline, everything is fine right? So I’m asking if Penn doesn’t receive your materials on time exactly but you’ve submitted them all before thats okay?

Does anyone have any idea what the NETS acceptance rate is? I understand that very few people are selected for the program, but how many people actually apply?

Can 680R 750M 790W (10) subjet: 800 Math 2 800 Chem keep me out of wharton? I am worried about my reading

@ccwwbb As long as you are within the 25th - 75th percentile range, you are relatively competitive. Your total old score makes the cut, and while your R + M is likely on the low side of the range, I’d say it’s still competitive. At the very least, it won’t kill your app. There’s more to you than just numbers!

Guys help! A few days ago I posted something here about how there were not documents listed on my Penn Portal that should be there because my college counselor said they were submitted and the Common App itself said those documents were “downloaded.” It’s been 2 days now, and I’m still have this problem. My counselor told me to contact Penn ASAP because this is not a common occurrence. I’m sure this must be some technical issue, and I honestly don’t think it’s my fault, but I don’t want this to have an impact on my application.

I emailed and called the admissions office but no one is picking up because it’s not business hours. Can someone please help me out? Does anyone know anyone/a representative/office I can call that will help me solve the issue today? I don’t want to wait until Monday because that’s so last minute and I bet everyone will be calling then today.

Please help!!! I’m freaking out a little bit.

Even if they did, nobody should give out that info. Regardless, these people deserve a day off just like everyone else. Patience - I’m sure they will respond to you after the weekend.

It won’t.

Correct. There is a grace period to account for things outside of your control.

@NoahTapp what is the range for ACT? And do you have any kind of hook?? Like legacy, URM, athlete??

Any word on when we’ll hear for ED?!

I believe it is on December 15th

Has anyone been invited to an interview yet?

@NoahTapp I don’t think I would send the SAT because your ACT is much stronger, so why muddy the waters? Do you have the recommended two subject tests and if so what are those and scores?

Im not sure if this is correct but people say just to send in all scores even if you did bad on one. Anyone else think this?

Penn encourages ppl to send in all scores though it’s not compulsory

About to submit my ED application…but i have a few last minute doubts.

  1. If I am applying to a coordinated dual-degree program, do those admissions officers read my penn supplemental as well? I don't want to sound redundant, but there is information in my penn supplemental that is not in my dual-degree essay...
  2. Should we mention anything about student life/culture in the penn supplemental? Mine is strictly about academic interests at my chosen school, but I don't know if I should add something about the university as a whole or even social life.

@stressedout18

  1. I think it's a safe assumption that the dual degree adcomm would take a look at your Penn supplement. They'd probably want to be able to further gauge your interests, so it's probably a good thing that there is more information in your supplement (as long as there is a clear relation). You want to try to highlight why you even want to pursue that program, without outright stating it. Idk if that makes sense lol
  2. Since the prompt specifically asks about your intellectual and academic interests, I would shy away from discussing the culture or the student life at Penn. At least that's what I did. Instead, maybe talk about how specific extracurricular programs or ventures would help develop your passions and how you'll capitalise on what you'll be exposed to.

Just some thoughts.

Good luck!

I think as it relates to sending in all scores, it’s probably not a huge deal either way. The general sense in my neck of the woods is not to send mediocre scores if you don’t have to. They should only use the best scores, but we really don’t know what they do with the entire testing history. I spoke with someone from Lehigh once (from admissions) that told me sometimes they do go to the next lower score as a tie breaker if they are choosing between candidates.

As with any of this…it all depends on the school and who is reading the app! Everyone just has to do what they are most comfortable with.

Are my common app ECs too lacking business for Wharton?
