UPenn ED Class of 2021 Discussion Thread

I’m not sure whether to apply to SEAS (biomedical science major) or CAS (english major), both premed. This would determine which 2 subject tests I take. If I do CAS, I’ll take the Lit and bio tests. If I do SEAS, I’d do math 2 and bio. I don’t think I’ll apply to seas because although I have a 3.8 UW I got a C+ first semester of honors chem (B- 2nd semester!) and a C- in Calc BC (switched to AB, likely B- this semester!). I still MIGHT apply to SEAS as a biomedical science major (which is an applied science degree, not engineering) only if I get a 4 or 5 on the AB test. If I get a 4 or 5 on the AB test, I’ll take the math 2 test, and only if I get above a 700 on that will I apply to SEAS. I asked on a tread on CC and some people said I should apply to SEAS, since I’m a black female…but I seriously doubt that matters as much as they think.

applying to SEAS, I’ve taken Lit and Bio but didn’t do as well as I hoped. Will take Math II and Physics at the end of the year or early next year.

I’m taking the Math II and Chemistry subject tests. Does anyone know what math II actually covers? Is it just the same as old SAT math or like calc?

@Aztreas my friend who applied to Penn RD (Wharton) sent his Math II score and said it’s pre-calc and trig. Good luck! I’m taking Math II (for Wharton…) and US History

I’m a bit nervous about math II, I’m taking pre-calc/trig this year though so I should be set right? Are you guys planning on taking it this spring or in the fall?

@janetsnakehole17 I’m taking it for Wharton too! It’s good to know that it only goes up to trig and pre-calc. Did your friend tell you whether or not the test was easy?

@bluekou23 I think you should be fine. When are you taking it? I’m taking mine in June i believe.

@Aztreas my friend is a math genius and he said it was hard :(( good luck… get whatever prep books you need bc I don’t think he had any

@bluekou23 I’m expecting to take my US History test in June… my memory of USH will be still fresh in my mind thanks to APUSH, and I’m probably taking Math II in October

Thinking of applying ED to Huntsman. Doing the IB. Taking SAT in May, not sure though. Is the new SAT more difficult than the old SAT?

Probably will take both math II and physics in june because I’m taking AP Physics this year so it’ll be fresh still @Aztreas

Lol good luck guys, it gets a lot worse before it gets better. -2020 ED applicant (deferred)

Most likely applying ED to Huntsman and CAS. Took the old SAT but still have to do subject tests.

@janetsnakehole17 yikes, I better get started right away then! My teacher actually still has her son’s from last year, so I’m hoping she will let me borrow/have it.

@bluekou23 same. I was debating between physics and chemistry for the second test, but in the end I decided chem bc everyone told me it was easier.

@Patel99 I plan on applying for Huntsman ED too! As for the new SAT, I honestly think it depends on what kind of person you are. For someone like me who isn’t exactly a speed tester it feels harder. Have you taken the PSAT yet?

ED to CAS, did SAT, but waiting to take ACT, Math II, and Physics.

@Aztreas Thanks! I am an international student therefore PSAT is not available. For the SAT I will have to go to another city to do it. How much did you get on the SAT’s? Did you do it with writing or without? Hopefully we will be Huntsman colleagues in 2 years time!

@Patel99 Ahh makes sense now, best of luck! As for my SATs, I got a 2240 on the old one, but the results for the new one don’t come out until May :(( , but I don’t think I did too well on it…I took it with the writing, I wouldn’t worry too much about the essay, it wasn’t too hard. All I can really say is I wish I had practiced my speed more. Haha, hopefully we will be!

Hello everyone! My name is Kyle and I finally made an account for this website! (This feels like a scripted therapy session).

Anyways, I plan on applying to Wharton this fall, but I’m getting more and more nervous the more I navigate these forums… I feel as though my chances keep getting slimmer and slimmer. ^#(^

Best of luck to you all and good luck to those of you who applied for the LBW! (I didn’t have the funds for it :(( )

Hi! I’m thinking of applying ED to CAS.

I’m going to take the new SAT in June and the subject tests in October (definitely last minute). Already took the ACT and PSAT.

@Aztreas thanks for the support. 2240 is a amazing score! Congrats!

Hello~
I just visited Penn yesterday, and I’m finna apply to Wharton
