My calculus comments were directed for Wharton, although they would also apply to engineering. The College makes no such request. They want a well balanced courseload including advanced classes in some (but not necessarily all subjects. In your daughter’s case, not taking AP Calc is fine, assuming the balance of the schedule is sufficiently rigorous. @Winky1

Hi does a 660 for a subject test hurt my chances?
@lololololololo It depends on how strong your other parts of application.
Do you think I can get into SEAS with a 31 ACT? (33 Superscored) No SAT II, but taking AP Physics C and BC Calc, I have legacy and an uncle who’s friends with Dean Furda and has spoken on my behalf and great EC’s, including an internship with a sport’s surgeon in the summer observing multiple surgeries in the OR, 2 varsity sports, and in an intensive engineering program at my school.
@srtb1999 Yes I think you have a very strong chance especially with legacy.
Just based on numbers, can I get into CAS with rank 7/450 at a very competitive public in my state, a 2330 SAT superscore (770 CR, 780 M, 780 W), 770 Math II, 770 Bio-M, and 740 USH, and graduating with 14 AP classes?
I just received my interview email yesterday afternoon after sending my application in two days ago. However, because she lives “far” from me (an hour) she suggested a video conference interview.
Congrats and good luck to everyone who has an interview coming up!!!
Thank you! @Aztreas
I put down on my Common App that I planned on taking the SAT 2 tomorrow (11/5), is it mandatory that I send my score to Penn? I’m taking Chemistry after having taken AP Chem last year but seemed to have forgot a lot so I have a feeling I am going to do poorly and do not want to send my score (especially since I already took and did fine on Math II and US History). I am only taking Chem because some of the schools I might apply Regular to require a science SAT 2 for engineering. Please help!
@ellier19 , It’s not mandatory. Penn, however, would expect the score if you expressed your plan of the test in the App.
when do results come out ??
@senjiruven as of now they’ve not yet set a date… It says on their website somewhere (I forget where) that the date is yet to be determined, but I think we can expect decisions around December 11th at the earliest.
Not really sure though.
@nikhil99 @senjiruven My penn portal says mid December
@sajeunesse Regarding an interviewer that suggests a video interview - if its not a big hardship (the hour trip, travel cost) for you/your parents, I suggest you tell the interviewer that you will be happy to make the trip to a location convenient (close by) to the interviewer. I think you can make a better impression/connection with the interviewer in person. If the interview insists it be video, then just go with that.
@seabreeze1998 sadly my interviewer insisted on video when I asked
Does anyone know Penn’s policy on sending first quarter/semester grades?
@mndmff the admissions officer told me that they call your GC if they want them. but they dont do it for everyone and it isnt required for us to send them without being asked
@Dartmouth_21 Thank you!
Hi everyone! I just had my interview today over FaceTime and it went very well. My interviewer was so nice and informative. If you’re nervous about your interview, don’t be! It’s super casual and she really put me at ease. If anyone wants to know specific questions she asked me or anything, just let me know and I’d be happy to post them!
@sunrae can I ask why you did your interview over FaceTime? That is how I’m doing mine as well. Do you think it negatively impacted your chances?
Also, could you PM the questions to me or post them here? I’m so nervous
