UPenn ED Class of 2022 Discussion

What are the recommended awards, summer programs, ec’s, act scores, etc?
Conversation for all rising seniors and all with experiences they wish to share.

a 34+ for a decent shot

Is a 33C competitive? Or should I retake?

We should make a group me chat guys! We can all message each other in it and better discuss advice and tips for college admissions!

@collegereadyqurl: Depends. If you’re an unhooked Indian Male like me, 34-36 is the only way for a semi-decent shot. If you’re any other race/ethnicity besides Asian, 33C is right in the mix and you’d be considered decently competitive. Just make sure your other stats and parts of your application aren’t low, like GPA, EC’s, Essays, etc. and you should be good

Raise your hand if you’re already stressing out! :-h

@kidfood So stressed! Starting my application now, actually!

@kidfood @TheElusiveGod ugh you guys I’m so stressed!! I started my common app essay but am really overwhelmed with everything else!

Is the common app already open?? I thought it reset each August.

hey guys! I was in ur shoes just a year ago and will be attending penn this fall! I’d love to help answer any questions about the whole process! My one bit of advice would be to focus on your essays! They really help set you apart from everybody else and i feel like not enough focus is spent on them! Also there are fly-in programs for Penn, one called PEEP that can help your chances of getting in.

Thank you! I finalized my decision about applying ED and I’m excited but I’m also super nervous about it… I am about to start writing my why Penn essay this week.

Starting my application and I’m already kinda nervous…it’s SO competitive! I’m debating applying ED. machiavelli1738 thank you so much for telling me about PEEP! Did a quick google search and I really want to go. I’m African American so this could really help me. Do you know how much it influences chances of admission?

@SuperGymnast_04 I heard it rly rly rly helps, although it’s not guaranteed you definitely get a leg up! I would def recommend attending it if you’re seriously considering penn

@machiavelli1738 Hey! Do you know anything about the Computer and Cognitive Science: Artificial Intelligence Program? I am very interested in it, and I hope you can give me some advice about applying! Thank you!

@TheElusiveGod i rly wish i could help you out there but I am in the Wharton school and am not smart enough to be dealing with computers haha so I have no idea how the comp programs work : /

@TheElusiveGod It is a quite selective dual degree program. This past year I interviewed 5 really smart and impressive kids who applied to this program and none of them got it… It is definitely a very cool program and it is becoming more and more popular since these are very hot fields. My advice would be to show adcoms compelling reasons why you are interested in this program. This should show through your schoolwork, extracurriculars, you can mention it in your Penn supplement essays and go into some detail about it. Just research the program very well and emphasize those aspects of your profile that make you a good fit for the program.

Is it possible to get into Wharton with a lower gpa like 3.7-3.8?

Thank you! I will bear that in mind.

Hello everyone

What does C mean? like 33C? sorry haha idk what it means!

I’m just finding myself so stressed bc I’m asian and ofc asians can’t get into ivies unless they’re insane! I have a 34 superscored and a 33 one sitting. How should I make my app stand out against the other crazy asians??
